Guest guest
The do employ dietitians (in Ontario anyway) but I have found they stick to the government food guide. When I was having my first baby I received white bread tuna fish sandwiches because I had indicated I was vegetarian. I guess the dietitian couldn't think of anything else. My hubby made every single meal for me while I was recuperating with the babe and brought it into the hospital. Needless to say, I had a midwife assisted home birth with the second. Of course it won't come as a surprise to the group to know that many MDs don't consider diet and nutrition at all important. In my former small town (where Rene Caisse ran her cancer clinic) a local doctor wrote a letter to the paper in response to an article by an alternative practitioner who encouraged healthy eating. The doctor fired back that our digestive systems were so sophisticated we could eat nuts and bolts and we would digest it. I AM NOT KIDDING!
