You don't have to have studied , but read the instructions to see if the symptoms mentioned there really apply to your situation and don't overdose yourself, quite common sense, really. The reason why I never heard about people being poisoned by Chinese medicine here in China is that people here know that the effect also depends on how much you take, and that more is not better, necessarily, especially with tonics, which can really clog up your system, cause nose-bleeding and all sorts of symptoms of " internal fire " . Then there is the issue of fakes, which is more unpleasant and harder to control. Southern Chinese brands seem to be much more prone to being messed with. Two good and reliable brands are Plum Blossom and Tongren Tang which are made in or near Beijing. If anyone should wonder where to get reliable ready made medicine or herbs, mail me off-list, ok?
