Guest guest
The main danger from and symptom of Hot Blood is hemorrhage. If the Hot Blood condition is severe, there can be irritability and even delirium. Hot Blood can be acute or chronic. When the Hot Blood is due to a Pernicious Evil invading deep into the body, it's an acute condition. If the Hot Blood conditions stays around indefinitely, day after day, week after week, that's a chronic condition. Wicke says that poor diet, allergies, toxic chemical, radiation, and violent emotions can all contribute to chronic cases of Hot Blood. (vol. 1, p. 75) Wicke also says that oddly enough, you usually don't see severe high fever in cases of Hot Blood, though the body temperature may be above normal. However, the person will feel hot on the inside. Temperature measured by a thermometer and the perception of temperature are not the same. For example, a person with a fever may feel chilled or may feel hot. What matters in TCM is the sensation the person is feeling coupled with what the healer feels when touching the person. If the patient reports feeling chilly or shivers and pulls the covers over him/herself and the patient's skin feels hot to the healer when s/he touches it, this is a very different pattern from the patient feeling hot to him/herself and the patient's skin feeling hot to the healer. The root problem and thus the treatment will be different. In TCM, the patients' perceptions are considered critical in helping the healer arrive at the correct diagnosis and treatment. This is so very different from Western medicine where patients' perceptions are discounted entirely in favor of " objective " tests, and where if the patients' perceptions differ from " objective " tests, the patient is dismissed as having a psychological problem.
