Guest guest
Maciocia in The Foundations of gives the following types of problems which can manifest from Jing imbalance: 1). The stages of life: " Stunted growth in children, poor bone development, infertility, habitual miscarriage, mental retardation in children, bone deterioration in adults, loose teeth and hair falling out or greying prematurely. " (Foundations, p. 40) (A note from Western medicine: Some Western doctors who specialize in thyroid problems have noticed that in families in which a member has inherited a tendency to Graves' Disease (one of the hyper- or over-active thyroid gland conditions), that there is a greater than normal likelihood that other members of the family will have premature graying (before age 30) of the hair, patchy hair loss, white patches on the skin (vitiligo), pernicious anemia (due to not being able to absorb vitamin B12), rheumatoid arthritis (of which morning stiffness is a common complaint), protrusion of the eyes (exophthalmos), and diabetes mellitus. There also is a greater than normal chance that other relatives will develop Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism. (Info from Your Thyroid: A Home Reference by Lawrence C. Wood, M.D., F.A.C.P.; David S. Cooper, M.D., F.A.C.P.; and E. Chester Ridgway, M.D., F.A.C.P. While some of these disorders or the tendency to these disorders may be inherited in the Western sense of the term (genes and chromosomes), others may be due to Jing Deficiency which includes but is not limited to much of what is meant by the Western concept of heredity. Parents who are Jing Deficient (from whaever reason - old age, sick parents, etc. - don't have as much Jing to pass onto offspring in the form of Pre-Heaven Jing as healthy, robust people with plenty of Jing. BTW, TCM warns against conception while one or both parents are drunk or exhausted.) 2). The basis of Kidney Qi. Jing Deficiency can manifest as " poor sexual function, impotence, weakness of knees, nocturnal emissions, tinnitus and deafness. " (Foundations, p. 40) 3). The basis of Marrow: " Poor concentration, poor memory, dizziness, tinnitus and a feeling of emptiness of the head. " (p. 40) 4). Basis of constitutional strength: " Being constantly prone to cold, influenza and other exterior diseases, chronic rhinitis and allergic rhinitis (hay fever). " (p. 40) NOTE: Jing Deficiency is NOT the only possible Root of some of these symptoms. Victoria _______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
