So how does one tonify Earth when Metal > needs to be subdued? > One tonifies the mother of Earth, Fire. <snipped the rest> I learned the 5 element system in my acupressure course, but I still have trouble figuring out which element is deficient and which is in excess. The `symptoms' given for weak or strong energies are both present (in my case. I'm the only patient I have at the moment for lol). In other words, for most of the elements, I exhibit signs of both excess and deficiency. Besides pulse reading, are there definite methods to determine which is which? sue Great stuff seeking new owners in Auctions! http://auctions. Sue yes there is, you can use inspection, listening, smelling, inquiring, the tongue, abdominal evaluation and differentiation of patterns such as the seven emotions. Does this help? Hmm, guess I wasn't too clear. I'm aware of the *methods* of diagnosis, it's that my results seem to fit into *either* excess or deficient. I'm wanting to know how to determine if a meridian (say Stomach or Kidney) is excess or deficient. sue Great stuff seeking new owners in Auctions! http://auctions.
