Guest guest
This is just very general, introductory information on female infertility. Since the short article also lists the possible manifestations of underlying TCM syndromes, this has relevance to others besides those seeking info on female infertility. Infertility is just one of the many possible manifestations of underlying Kidney Yin, Yang, and Essence Deficiency, Kidney Yin Deficiency, and/or Kidney Yang and Spleen Yang Deficiency. http://spanda.com/articles/infertility.html " The Channels of greatest importance are the Ren Channel and the Chong Channel for bringing Chi and Blood into the pelvic region. Also, the condition of the three Yin Channels of the leg (Spleen, Liver and Kidney Channels) is essential. The Spleen is responsible for the function of the ovaries and ovulation. The Liver is responsible for the fallopian tubes and menstrual regularity. The Kidney is responsible for the uterus and the reproductive power itself. The Kidneys are the source for the Ren Channel and Chong Channel, making them eveen more important. " (The part about the Spleen and ovaries/ ovulation, and the Liver and regularity is simplified.) For those new to TCM: Besides the 12 regular meridians (Liver, Gall Bladder, Heart, Small Intestine, Pericardium, Triple Heater, Spleen, Stomach, Lungs, Large Intestine, Kidneys, and Bladder), there are 8 Extraordinary meridians. Two of these are the Ren and the Chong meridians. Another name for the Ren is Conception Vessel (or Directing Vessel). The Ren is the meridian that runs up the center of the front of the body. It also is called the " Sea of the Yin channels) as it has an influence on all the Yin meridians in the body (Liver, Heart, Pericardium, Lungs, and Kidneys). Among other things it can be used to nourish Yin. In addition to fertility problems, it also gets used to treat menopause and menstrual problems. It also can be used to treat tumors and growths in the uterus, and to treat hernia in men. The Chong channel is also called the Penetrating Vessel. It too can play an important role in reproductive health. It gets used a lot in cases of Rebellious Qi (Qi which is rising when it should be descending). The reference to the 3 Yin channels of the leg: There are 12 regular meridians (named above). 6 of these are Yin channels, and 6 are Yang. Three of the 6 Yin meridians flow through the foot and leg. These are the Liver, Spleen, and Kidneys. Three of the 6 Yin channels flow through the hand and arm. These are the Lungs, Percardium, and Heart. There also are 3 foot/ leg Yang channels and 3 hand/ arm Yang channels.
