I thank you for that. ************************* Hi Dale, That feels great to know I reminded you of such a wonderful memory without even meaning to. I often am reminded of wonderful times through just a scent of essential oils. I think that is why I am so drawn to them. For me they are a very spiritual path. Here's to reminiscing. Guest guest
>early graying of air, Just a little extra info on early graying of hair: In families where one or more members have early graying of hair, there is a greater than normal likelihood that other family members may suffer from certain thyroid problems (Graves' disease and Hashimoto's disease), pernicious anemia, patchy hair loss (alcopecia areata), diabetes mellitus, protruding eyes, and vitiligo (white patches on the skin). As far as I know no one knows why there is a greater than normal statistical chance of these things also occuring in families where there is early graying of hair. If one family member has early graying of hair, one might also consider checking other family members and seeing if they have the same (or different) TCM imbalance(s) as the person with early graying and considering treatment with black sesame seeds or He Shou Wu (which translates as Mr. Black Hair). Guest guest
Does anyone here remember the nutritionist Adell Davis? She was very popular back in the late 60s early 70s. She suggested in her books that grey hair was sometimes a sign of folic acid defiency. I long forgot this until a friend who takes massive amounts of pharmaceuticals for rheumatoid arthritis related that he'd read in some magazine that the type of medicine he took also flushed his body of folic acid. He was upset because his doctor hadn't considered suggesting folic acid suplimentation until he asked about it. I asked him if taking folic acid made him feel any better. His answer was basically not that he'd really noticed but, then he got a strange look his face and leaned close and shared, he didn't know if there was any relationship but he thought his hair was coming in less grey than before. Not much later I met the wife of one of another one of my friends who had given birth to a child with spinabifida. What a glorious head of grey hair the woman had! I mentioned later to my friend that maybe he'd want to run a google on folic acid for the mrs. His reply was they weren't going to suppliment with anything until she got the all clear from her doctor following her up coming cataract surgery. <sigh> I'd be curious to know if polygonum muliflorum or black sesame seeds were high in folic acid. Adell Davis was one of my first introductions to alternative healing. I got a lot of help from her books. I still have two of her books though they are still packed up from the move. > She suggested in her books that grey hair was sometimes a sign of > folic acid defiency. > > I long forgot this until a friend who takes massive amounts of > pharmaceuticals for rheumatoid arthritis related that he'd read in > some magazine that the type of medicine he took also flushed his body > of folic acid. I forgot to mention it in the original post, but rheumatoid arthritis and morning stiffness are two of those things like premature graying, patchy hair loss, white patches on the skin, protrusion of eyes, diabetes mellitus, and pernicious anemia (due to B12 deficiency) that tend to occur with greater than normal frequency in families where one or more members have Graves' disease or Hashimoto's thyroiditis. (When I was on the B12 shots for the CFIDS, I also had to get my folic acid level checked regularly along with my B12 level. They wanted to make sure that the B12 shots had not lower the folic acid level. The folic acid level was always good in my case. Which may have been because this was still in my craving leafy greens period.) > I asked him if taking folic acid made him feel any better. I'll do a post on the little bit of info I have on major chemical ingredients in the herbs which are used in cases of premature graying. I did notice that Wasting and Thisting Disease also gets mentioned for some of them. Some cases (not all) of diabetes are Wasting and Thirsting, but not all cases of Wasting and Thirsting are diabetes. Victoria

KPC and Herbal Times has it as a single herb pills, as well. I would use it for a 3 months let us know how it works. Stan
