Guest guest
I think I am beginning to understand the Pericardium more, and would be interested in seeing if I am getting it correctly. I have seen the Pericardium described as the bodyguard who keeps the rowdy out of the throne room, yet I have also seen it described as the court joker and the diplomat. (In obscure court terms that took a bit of thought on my part to understand. ) If I understand correctly, this means that although the Pericardium is responsible for excitement and variety in one's life, it also protects the Heart against the full brunt of strong emotions from the other organs? I suppose then that the Pericardium *regulates* the excitement and variety of one's life as opposed to *producing* it???? From other posts on this group, I have also come to understand that this filtering works both ways with social interaction between others, much as if two Emperors spoke to each other through their intermediaries for safety. I also thought that perhaps one of the reasons that problems with very close relationships can unleash such powerful emotions is that the Pericardium's protective function was not on guard from attacks in that direction and thus are not prepared to deal with the barrage, much as if the hypothetical two emperors had sent their bodyguards away so that they could talk privately, if that makes any sense... Does any of this seem like proper understanding of the Pericardium??? Again, I am deeply indebted to all of you for your helpful replies. It was very interesting to read your take on the pericardium, since I understand it in a totally different way (but bear in mind that I'm a novice). I've come to understand it more as something like the water-filled radiator of an engine. It helps regulate & radiate the heat produced by the heart, but also protects the lungs from that heat (lungs, I understand, are easily damaged by heat). All of the pericardium functions, including the emotional ones, are related to it's " heat " regulating & mediating capacities. I'd also be interested in feedback from the group as to whether I'm on the right track. Cheers, J.
