Guest guest
My $.02, Many of the original folks who were involved in creating the schools and the orgainizations and the Board Exams---the folks who created the world of Acupunture /TCM that most of you came from - had no degrees of any kind. I started my practice with no more than a letter from my Sifu saying i had his permission. (ok since then i went back and earned some initials - OMD, DAc, Dipl Ac, DiplCH, FNAAOM etc. but that has not made a great difference in my practice) Even today some of the most knowledgeable practitioners and scholars of our Art have no degree other than Dipl Ac or CH. It is about ability to help our patients and this is not measured by initials. Doc True security must be rooted in true and complete social, economic and environmental justice for everyone everywhere with no exceptions. Anything else is an illusion. Guest guest
Be it duly noted that there are still people out there calling themselves Doctors, with " M.D. " after their name, whose license to practice has been revoked. Unless somebody checks, there is no way to know. Guest guest
>Marco: What has maked a difference in your practice?< My practice building strategy; I treat all patients as i wish to be treated. Focusing attention on them alone, with no difference between those that pay my full fee and those who are on a sliding scale. If I do not feel i can help someone or i think another modality or even another TCM practitioner will be better able to help them i refer them. By treating only those people i can do the best for and treating each patient as if i have all of the time in the world i have gained the trust of my patients. Students who sit clinic with me often remark that it seems more like family than patients. My patients are my main source of referral. I do not have competitors, only colleagues - and my colleagues know i will always help with practice or patient questions. The students at CSTCM where i teach know that when they graduate i will be there as a mentor if needed. I treat them as colleagues rather than a false hierarchy of student teacher, recognizing that i am still a student. The above is my practice building strategy and i get several new patients refered directly to me each week, often by students, fellow TCM practitioners, MDs, DCs, and mostly by patients.
