Guest guest
Hi Harriet > obviously the Lungs must not be punctured... what about Kid, UB, etc. > Can damage be done? Standard acupuncture training suggests that one chould not puncture any body cavity, vital organ, major blood vessel, or joint. There are exceptions, for example deliberate injection of joints with homeopathics, Traumeel or hyaluronidase. Also, biopsy of a vital organ may be necessary. Otherwise, stay clear of those parts! Guest guest
Phil, Phil, I certainly agree that the organs really are better left unpunctured. But I've seen a number of acupuncturists in China who needle into joint spaces. There is also a school, so to speak, known as xiao zhen dao, literally small needle knife, which uses " needles " that are like small scalpels to penetrate into joints. These folks have the most comprehensive anatomy texts and illusrations that I've seen. Clearly one needs to know exactly what one is up to in order to stick anything into a joint, which is where rigorous training enters the picture. But I don't think we should lump joints into the same category as organs when it comes to proscriptions against needling. Ken

Also when one uses a 1 1/2 or 2 inch needled in the abdomen one needles into organ. Since i do this all the time as did many or my mentors i guess it depends on the organ. I would not want my liver or spleen needled. I'd pick some up for you, but I'm not there. If you know anyone there they could probably help. Ken

Guest guest
There is a bit of experience of what can and should be done in the body during surgery with acupuncture and herbology (and massage and qi kung), but i wouldn't recomend aiming a needle at any organ from outside, no, no. harrietepstein2002 <harrietepstein wrote:obviously the Lungs must not be punctured... what about Kid, UB, etc. Can damage be done?
