Guest guest
My teacher said something that I have been to lazy to follow myself but someone with more motivation may wanna heed this: " Eat only what you can take from nature yourself Want to eat potatoes? Can you cultivate and dig up and prepare? Want to eat meat? Can you kill and prepare the animal you want to eat? " Holger Hi Holger, I like your post. I lived on farm in Minnesota without electricity or running water. Your teacher's admonition was our life by default. Earlier in the year we had a flurry of exchanges on CHA regarding eating food that " looks like what it is " ... which is to say not processed and not in a box. There's some merit in this too without having to own a farm or live on a commune. Emmanuel Segmen We had a debate some years ago in our countryside, where meat from the pigs troat was called " pigtroat " (swedish translation) in the grocery and some of the cityfolks that comes to live in their summer houses got so upset when they discovered this and that it was not called something like carré, some french or at least something that did not shock the children (of the cityfolks) Hehe ... well this is what I mean. Do we eat what we eat with integrity? Is it OK for us to eat pork or chicken and be ignorant for how they live and die? I am not a vegetarian, but I choose the meat I eat carfully. It is wild or it is from a farm with great integrity, caring for their animals and being responsible for their wellbeing. Iam not sure I would stand the test: Can I kill it? I should probably be a vegetarian to have full integrity if I follow that creed. Holger
