Treatment for hypothryroidism

Ross,

I would definitely agree with you about Ht issue leading to Ht/Kd imbalance. I

have found hypothryroidism predominately in women who have had some emotional

trauma leading to a lack of voice in their lives. Their repressed frustration

generally ends up in their shoulders/neck, causing congestion in those channels

and stagnation of qi, particularly in the GB/St channels. In addition to

regulating the Ht/Kd, I also work to release some of that congestion.

Re: Treatment for hypothyroidism...

The causes can be multifaceted. If we are looking at a young

person, most likely the Kidney vacuity is constitutional. If it's

taking place in an elderly person, we are looking at someone who has

depleted themselves with lifestyle (pushing oneself past

capabilities, excessive sexual activity/ejaculations, multiple

pregnancies, trauma with pregnancies, menstrual disorders, breast-

feeding numerous children back to back, poor nutritional status,

etc). We all see many cases of Kidney deficiency, but why do some

wind up with a thyroid imbalance? The part that I find

determinative of the thyroid condition (in my limited experience) is

some Heart issue leading to a HT/KI imbalance. (I would love to

know if others can corroborate this.) In many instances we see a

temporary hyperthyroid prior to the burnout. Here someone usually

has some Heart yin deficiency. Obviously, a weakened Kidney can

over time lead to problems in the Heart system. My guess is that

these people have pre-existing Heart pathology, i.e., shock, trauma,

circulatory issues, birth trauma, excessive aerobic exercise, etc.
