I may be doing the race this year in my area. My grandmother had been breast

cancer free for over 30 years after having gone through a radical mastectomy

and hysterectomy, but once again, after all that time, longer than I have

been alive, she is fighting for her life in a battle against breast cancer

....

And you may ask why someone as into alternative medicine (and NOT into

conventional medicine) as I am would even bother thinking of doing a race

that only promotes research toward conventional cures for cancer .. because

(in a very true, not nasty way) my Grandmother, as many folks, would rather

die than try something " non-conventional " in the medical arena, so I hope we

can find a conventional cure, or ANY cure for that matter!

hey Chris

Sorry to hear about your G.mother's battle. Sure hope she wins.

And you are right, a cure is a cure. Unfortunately more money is pumped into

conventional than vice-versa. But with cancer, if they can find a cure, who

CARES if it's conventional, just so long as it works.

Hope YOU are doing well. As for me, I'm off to change my shirt. The belly

catches EVERYTHING! The Belly looks disgusting!

Cheers!

Hi Kathleen :)

Thanks so much for the rooting for my Grandma !!!! .. I will be In NYC again

*groan* to see her very soon (Actually I was supposed to have been there

already, and I'd have been coming home that infamous Tuesday if plans worked

out, thank heavens timing did NOT work out, huh?)

Hey Chris,

I should have clarified. The belly itself is huge and glorious. I'd rival

the moon in size, and that's the truth. Although after already having 3, I

would NEVER want to show it off! LOLOL

It's the SHIRT! that is disgusting. I look like I've been feeding a family

of pigs off it! >sigh<

Hope the trip (when you DO go) will be relatively painfree. You can count on

LONG lines. I listened to some expert on Airport security last night. HE

said, that airports STILL haven't learned their lessons. They are still

flying off with suitcases that are not attached to people. Suitcases are

STILL being picked up at the curb and going straight on the plane without

being x-rayed etc.

They ARE taking precautions, like taking away disposable razors from carry

on luggage (AS IF!), but he said that, THAT is no deterant from someone hell

bent on trouble...

He said the airline's should arm ALL pilots and make the cockpit

inaccessable from the cabin etc...

Sorry...not exactly the sort of thing one want's to hear when thinking about

flying is it? I'll shut up and go back in my hobbit hole ;-)

Hugs

Yup, Thank you so much! My grandma is actually happier to know why she has

been feeling awful for the past few months than she is upset she has cancer

again! She feels and sounds good (compared to how she has been!) .. she'll

just have less hair to perm, so I'll have to bring her a really cool looking

curly wig when I visit .. maybe I'll get her one in each hair color ..

blonde, brunette and auburn, so she can be any hair colored woman she is the

mood to be any day she wants ;)

She is 77 .. and doesn't seem at all ready to go to " the great beyond " yet

.... so thanks for the prayers and well wishes all :) The devout Catholic she

is really appreciates them :)

I am sending her some holy water from the well of Mother Mary in Ephesus

Turkey .. for anyone interested .. lore has it that St. John brought Jesus'

Mother, Mary, to Ephesus Turkey to live out her last days. The water from

her well there is considered sacred and reputedly linked to various

miraculous occurrences ....

Hi again Chris,

I can understand that... it's sometimes easier to cope with the " known " than it

is the " unknown " in being sick, and worrying what in heck's wrong with you.

Great idea on the wigs - she'll love that! :) It's important to keep the spirits

up........

Our prayers will be with you and your Grandmother... and prayers work (it's been

true for us anyways)......miracles happen daily........and your visit will do a

LOT for her emotionally - Grandma's are so special........

Hugs,

Marilyn
