Guest guest
I made a soap last night that was just wonderful and I like to place a little card with each soap explaining what the e.o.'s in each bar will do for the body. I added a little pinch of lavender flowers to the bars and they look absolutely beautiful, but I'm not sure what they do for the body besides look pretty in the soap. Do they do the same thing as the e.o.? Any beneficial value of putting lavender flowers in the soap? Please help so I can place this useful info on my labels. Thanks ~Michelle :-) P.S. How about calendula petals, rosemary leaves and small rose buds also? Saw them and thought they may be pretty, too.
Guest guest
Lavender flowers are what they make essential oils from. So you get the same relaxing quality from the flowers as well as the scent. Helaine BTW I just got some calandula flower petals in the mail in a herb swap! Guest guest
Hi Michelle! You mean the lavender buds, yes????? We take baths, with about a half of a handful each of lavender buds and chamomile german herb - makes the skin soft, silky and is very relaxing - besides smelling great as well.... we wrap the handful in a square of unbleached muslin and keep squeezing it as we bathe... Sooooooooooo.. I'd say sure, that the lavender buds " do " add to your soap, besides making it more pretty <grin>, since that's where the EO's come from to begin with........ The others... same thing may/may not apply as calendula petals have so very little in each petal - and you really have to fight to get an infusion (well, I did anyways!), but still.. you " would " be adding it.. rosemary, a little bit, would look nice and probably really add to the scent as rosemary's scent is rather strong. Are you chopping them or using them when adding as a powdered form? Rosebuds will look pretty and add to the scent providing they're the right type of rose buds, meaning NOT the one's I've got growing in my garden, the kinds that look so pretty but have no smell??? <grin> Chris, now.. she's got some very nice ones... and they even smell good, from what I hear......... I have a friend who made some soap w/sage chopped really small and I don't know what it added but it sure is nice on the skin and looks nice too I also have some powdered sandalwood (red) which I'd bet would make a neat swirl in the soap of color if nothing else.... you could always just list the things you're adding as part of the ingredients of the soap as they are in there... sounds like you've got some great ideas, and the best part is............you're having fun with it all!!!!!! Hope this helps a little bit...keep in mind though.. ROFLMAO - I don't make soap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
