June 30, 2005 - Representative Susan Davis has introduced House

Resolution 3156, also called the " Dietary Supplement Access and

Awareness Act " . The bill is co-sponsored by John Dingell and

Henry Waxman and requires constant notification of new

supplements put on the market, similar to the notification

introduced by the European Food Supplements Directive. The

stricter rules, which echo a previous bill (H.R. 3377) are

directed at supplements that contain herbs and herbal extracts

as well as any other substances that are not strictly vitamins

and minerals. In an apparent attempt to pre-empt a recent court

ruling that held ephedra may be sold as long as the dose is

lower than...
