Guest guest
In New Orleans, there has been a command decision to stop providing food and water to those who refuse to leave. Here is a quote by my friend Mike Howells. You may remember Mike if you saw the interviewe on Democracy Now a few days ago: " Mercenaries, Red Cross, National Guard, sit all day eating food under big tents...but no food, clothing, etc is available to those in the city...what little piggies. " Here is a quote from Dr.Marty Rowland (Ph.D., P.E. Urban Planner, Registered Professional Civil / Environmental Engineer, Infrastructure System Expert, Community Activist), which pertains to the current situation in New Orleans: " Make sure you delete from your vocabulary, for a while.....'refugee'. " The word you mean is 'evacuee' or 'displaced citizen of New Orleans'. " Refugees do not intend to go back home....and our main political point is that ALL, that is ALL, shall return....and return so that the racist class division can be overturned and all contribute to a New Orleans that has plentiful, good paying jobs and productive industries. " The attached message gives phone numbers to put pressure on people responsible for cutting off food and water to people who are refusing to leave their homes in dry areas of New Orleans. Pete Schneider (Col. Schneider is in charge of the La. Natl. Guard in New Orleans, and made the decision to stop providing supplies for the people)--225-276-7177 From my experience the last few days, these people don't like having their cages rattled. But they do respond, and are enormously sensitive to the loads of bad press they've been getting. We can help the people of New Orleans directly by keeping watch on those making decisions that affect the people of the city. betsy ________________________________
