Guest guest
Dear Kat: Two fantastic websites are " drmcdougall.com " , this I think is the best there is for to the point information,by the way, check out the article Dr. McDougall wrote about me on his website. Go to Star Mcdougallers and the " Pick a Story " and I am about the forth person on the list of great success stories. I am a prime example of a struggle to maintain good health may have ended poorly, until I klearned the right way to control it. Also check out Joel Fhurman,M.D. I think his website is drfhurman.com these are both loaded with great information and a great way to get started. Also check out my website that is also a great way to regain fantastic health and maintain weight control. My website is www.thesourceofwellness.zoomshare.com. In Good Health....Naturally, Dr. Scott B. Guest guest
The best thing is to go to a reputable yoga program. A good teacher will help you adjust your poses so that they give you the most benefit, Trying to do it from a website, dvd or book is not recommended if you have physical issues. Guest guest
I agree with Henk. The keys to good yoga require live help -- correct breathing, proper positioning -- whether or not you have extra challenges. You can do yoga at home once you know these things, but a class or private session is very important to your success. One of the keys to yoga is to not compare yourself to others. Those yoga models with their incredibly flexible bodes are chosen because of their flexibility, but those with the most to gain are the least flexible. Notice where you are in the moment and, if you must, compare it to yourself in previous sessions. Don't be surprised if some days you are less limber than others. The key is to find that point of strain and gently hold it, breathe, and let it release. Toni On 8/26/07, Henk DeBruyn <hendrikdebruyn wrote: > > The best thing is to go to a reputable yoga program. Guest guest
Kathleen: I too am overweight and I wanted to try yoga. I found the book " Mega Yoga " by Megan Garcia. She is a plus size model and she talks honestly and openly about adjustments that fleshy people can make in order to do yoga. She also has a DVD for Just My Size. I got them from my library but they are not expensive on Amazon. , " Toni Roberts " <TRobertsLMT wrote: > > I agree with Henk. Guest guest
Hi Kat, My mom is overweight and she has been doing Bikram Yoga for the last 6 months. It is definitely important to go to a studio so that the teacher can show you the best way to modify the poses for your body type without losing the benefit of the postures. My mom has had great success with Bikram. Bikram is the original " hot yoga. " The heated room helped her sweat the toxins out of her body and she has become more trim very quickly. There are many overweight people in our class and they do very well and see great results hope this helps Devon
