Guest guest
Hi to everyone. I am fairly new to this group. I have just within the past year begun suffering from terrible pms for at least 10 days. The worst is the terrible fatigue I feel, ( it feels like I have the flu) along with anxiety and depression. I already deal with obsessive compulsive disorder on a daily basis, but it gets much worse during pms. Nothing I've tried eases the symptoms. I am 38 years old. I just don't want to live with this every month for almost half the month!! I really do not want to take prescription medication ( i have taken ssri inhibitors in the past) and am willing to try anything natural. much thanks much to anyone with suggestions! peace maria
Guest guest
Hi, Maria! Welcome to the group. Having alot of pain and other symptoms associated with your cycle is not normal, although much of the world may make you think its normal. I would just take a guess and say that you may need to look at your hormones to see if they are out of whack. The only way I know of to do this is to have bloodwork done. If you already know the state of your hormones, you might try some therapeutic essential oils: perhaps sage or clary sage could help you. If you would like to know more about essential oils, I'll be happy to help you. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Maria, Dr. Katharina Dalton did wonderful work in regards to PMS. Since 1953, she has been the foremost authority on the subject. You can look up anything by her to learn more. She describes PMS as an endocrine disorder. It is frequently caused by excess estrogen and/or progesterone deficiency! Tips for dealing with PMS naturally: * Use a natural progesterone cream to balance out your hormones. * If you smoke, quit. * Practice stress management: many of the symptoms of PMS are unpredictable and emotionally draining. This can be very stressful and can exacerbate your condition. * Regular exercise may reduce your risk of PMS altogether; exercising once you have symptoms (even though you may not feel like it) will reduce the symptoms you experience for that cycle; reduces stress and tension. * Take a daily, non-prescription multi-vitamin; discuss any other supplement needs with your physician. * Be sure to get an adequate daily intake of calcium (1,200 mg/day). * Additional magnesium, vitamins E and B6, and carbohydrate supplements might also be helpful. * Eat a well balanced diet; don't skip meals. * Reduce intake of caffeine, alcohol, refined sugar, and salt. * Enlist the support and understanding of friends and loved ones. Ask for understanding and help with tasks in advance to reduce stress and pressure. * Try to get regular, sufficient sleep. * eat several small meals a day to minimize blood sugar fluctuations. * limit intake of sweets, salt, alcohol, caffeine, red meats, and other fatty foods. * increase time for activities that bring enjoyment Shana Hormone Health Nature's Way http://www.momurl.com/HormoneHealth/ http://www.BalancedNowPodcast.com On 10/26/07, maria <mariadirienzo wrote: > > Hi to everyone. > I am fairly new to this group. > I have just within the past year begun suffering from terrible pms for > at least 10 days. Guest guest
Hi Jude, Nice to meet you. Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I have not had my hormones checked out. (I kind of don't like the idea of having bloodwork done) I'm allergic to traditional MDs and the whole medical scene. But I will look into sage. Thanks. Guest guest
I'm not sure if anyone has suggested this yet but Clary Sage essential oil is great for stabilizing female systems and helping ease cycle problems. :-) One of my latest favs! Guest guest
I would also like a cure 4 PMS. I become completely irrational and angry with everyone for no apparent reason. I don't even want to be around me the week before! Sick of deleting your inbox? 7 Mail has free unlimited storage. Get it now.
Guest guest
Hi Maria, When hormones are fluctuating so much, your bloodwork will likely show your hormones " in the normal range " . Your symptoms are the same as many women at your age and are linked to an excess of estrogen. Saliva testing for hormones is far more accurate than bloodwork. I had my hormones tested via a blood draw about 3 years ago and everthing came back " normal " . I hadn't had a period in months and had many symptoms indicating that my hormones were anything but " normal " ! I love aromatherapy. But, please be aware that, like herbs, the oils for menopause (estrogen deficiency) are not always advised for perimenopause (estrogen dominance). Clary sage, anise, fennel, cypress, angelica, coriander and sage contain hormonelike substances related to estrogen. They stimulate and effect estrogen levels and you already have too much of that!
