PH testing

I've never thought about PH, but after reading some group messages and

some online articles, I'm interested in testing myself to see if I'm

too acidic.

 

Is any PH test tape that can be bought at a local drug store ok to

use? And how often is it necessary to test yourself if your PH is

normal?

Hi Jean. Yes, the pH papers at the drug store are what you want. It's

simple to test yourself. First thing in the morning, your first pee, tear a

strip of paper off and put it into the stream of your urine. It's best to

urinate for a little first, like taking the test in mid stream. Then

immediately compare the color of the strip with the color chart that comes

with the papers. If you wait to compare, the test strip will darken and

give you a false reading.

 

I always test my first urine, but you will find some sites that say test the

second urination of the day because your body is detoxing during the night

and you are bound to be a bit more acidic first urine, because the body is

getting rid of the acidity of the night.

 

So--you might want to test your first urine for a week, and then test your

second urine for a week, and see if they are close or very different in pH

range.

 

Remember that whatever you eat can change your urine, so don't take just one

day as being your normal number. Test over at least a week and average that

Thanks for the advice Renee. I've been playing with the strips since

I bought them yeaterday, testing saliva and urine, and my numbers are

all over the place LOL!

 

I'll start tomorrow with the first urine testing and see how things

look after a week.

Oh, it's the same for the saliva test. The doctor I heard lecture about pH

said to test the saliva first thing in the morning too, on an empty stomach,

before doing anything--even drinking water.
