Tums alternative?

I take braggs apple cider vinegar daily, and I know there are other

things I can take to avoid heartburn like papaya enzymes, etc.

I wanted to know if there is any alternative supplement that will give

the instant relief of heartburn like Tums does. Tums are not healthy

to take, but they do give instant relief when needed.

Any suggestion of something more natural to take that works right away

is appreciated :)

This isn't an instant fix, but if you take it regularly you may not

need an instant fix - licorice root is dynamite for heartburn. I take

500 mg of DGL licorice 2 x a day - if you don't use DGL you may up

your blood pressure. But your whole digestive tract loves this herb!

Try it - in even a couple of days you should start to notice a

difference.

Hi Jean,

How much Apple Cider Vinegar do you take? It will be 3 years next May since

I started taking Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar and I have NOT taken any Tums

since.

I started taking two teaspoons with a little honey in a coffee cup of hot

water 3 times a day. I now take a 1 tablespoon of Vinegar 3 times a day. I

usually have some vinegar to sip while I'm eating. My ankles are no longer

swollen and my cholesterol is down 20 points from 176 to 156. I swear by

my apple cider vinegar and I purchase it by the gallon as it saves about 3

dollars. If interested Google Apple cider vinegar for more information of

more benefits.

Hi Evelyn! I take around one ounce per day in a half cup of water. I

must admit that since I started, I've taken a lot less heartburn

meds. But sometimes at night, usually if I wake up on my right side,

I'll have heartburn and have to get up and take a couple of tums. I

have to get up early for work 3:45 AM, and if I don't take the tums,

sometimes I just can't fall back asleep.

Hi Jean,

I'm taking my last cup of hot water, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar

and a little honey sipped slowly. I always have a cup to sip while I'm

eating. I used to buy those big bottles of Tums but I haven't had any in my

house since May three years ago. Do you remember Jack Lalanne the exercise

man. He is now over 90 years old. He started The bragg program when he was

I think 15 years old.

Three years ago I was really having trouble with swollen ankles. I had an

appointment with my doctor and he said I might have take water pills but he

didn't give me a prescription. That was when I started taking my apple

cider vinegar. Two weeks later I again went to doctor and I said to him

Look doc no swollen ankles. " He was very impressed and I was very happy I

wouldn't have to take water pills.
