Just in case any of you were following it, and because I want to brag,

I thought I would let you all know that my little boy, Elijah Eugene

was born at 1:57 pm on November 23, 2007. He weighed 9 lbs 4.5 oz and

was 23.75 inches long. It was a beautiful, unmedicated birth. I

labored at home for about 2 days before going to the hospital because

he was posterior and labor was failing to progress. With the help of

my fantastic doula we were able to get him turned late Thursday night

by doing some wacky exercises, and arrived at the hospital just after

12 Friday morning. The next 13 hours went by very quickly, and I

managed to push him out in 40 minutes! He is in perfect health and I

feel great, considering.

WHOO HOO!!! That is fantastic! Congratulations on listening to your

baby and you body and being able to avoid a c-section (that would

almost have been certain should you have gone to the hospital earlier)

Blessings on your house!!! Sending white light and healing thought for

a snappy recovery for your body, and loving, welcoming thoughts for

your son. He is a gift to the world and a treasure for your family.

Thank you for sharing your story with us.

Peace,

Monkey

Congratulations! I had the awesome experience of attending an

unmedicated birth at a birth center recently, and it was amazing.

Wecome to the world, Elijah!

A doula is basically an advocate who " mothers the mother " during,

and/or after the birth. A very valuable resource.

A doula (which is Greek for " woman helper " ) is a professional birth

assistant. I highly recommend a doula for anyone, whether it is their

first birth or their 10th, whether they want a natural birth or an

epidural. Doulas are a world of help in the delivery room and before

and after birth, without taking the place of your birth partner. I

would not have achieved my goal of having a natural birth had it not

been for the help, encouragement and expertise of my doula. She was

fantastic, and to anyone in the Denver or Colorado Springs area, I

would love to give you her information. She was amazing!
