Guest guest
If I remember correctly, the pectin in apples and apple products will bind you up, not the other way round. Try apricot or peach nectar or prune juice, or better yet the fresh fruits eaten in copious quantities. Good luck! Guest guest
I would say lots of plant-based enzymes and lots of acidophilus. You should have three bowel movements a day (one meal in, one meal out). Maybe you could also make a food diary to learn which foods affect you most, and eliminate them. I do have an elimination diet that works well for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions - perhaps it would work for this as well. If you want it, email me privately and I'll send it to you. Guest guest
/*Hi there!*/ All that I know is that eating a LOT of Vegetables just about ALWAYS works! It also makes you healthier in many other ways! Eating a good sized salad every day will do the trick! Fruits are also very good, as well as vegetables. It's important to eat such that you DO have good bowel movements, otherwise you will be adversely affecting your colon in a bad way! If you want some more detailed information, go to my Alternative Doctor's site at http://www.abundalife.com/launchpad.html . Dr. Sorge is the Greatest, and has the answer for just about every health problem, without using any form of drugs! Eliminating almost all sugars, except those from fruits and vegetables helps overall health and body function, too! As well as elimination of any simple carbohydrates, such as white bread & rice & pasta. Spinach pasta is OK, and Multi-Grain breads. But the answer to good bowel function is Vegetables, Vegetables and more Veggies! I had 3 bowel movements yesterday! After my big Thanksgiving meal with my relatives on Thursday, my bowel movements were less and harder until I got home on Friday to my regular diet of, you guessed it, Veggies. I do eat Fish & Meat also. Good luck, and try eating more Vegetables! You'll live 10 years longer, too, if you do! Peace, Steve

Guest guest
Hi, Try blocking off left nostril and breathing only through the right nostril while sat on the toilet. Also try rubbing the stomach in a clockwise rotation to encourage the bowel to empty. In the East where people squat there are less problems with the bowel as its a more natural position. This can also be replicated by bending forward as if putting your head between your knees while sat which also stimulates the bowel.Combining all three methods always brings results for me. Guest guest
Some questions first: What are you doing for fibre? Could you be deficient in magnesium? How are the good wee beasties in your gut? Are you getting any exercise? Are you drinking enough fluid? How about, for starters, you eat a whole apple before going to bed, and wash it down with a glass of warm water. Spend the extra dollars and buy organic, so you can eat it skin and all. The skin includes a powerful anti-oxidant called Quercetin. Consider it your Daily Doctor Repellent. Drink another glass of warm water, ideally with a squirt of lemon juice, as soon as you get up in the morning. Unless you are lactose intolerant eat some yoghurt with an active culture daily. That means the plain white stuff, without a lot of junk added. Walk 20 minutes a day if you possible can. Do that for starters for a week and see what happens. Keep us posted eh? Guest guest
Try psyllium seed with the husks. Take 1-2 caps, 1-3/x's/day with water. Drink filtered or bottled water. Half your body wt. in ozs./day. Stay away from coffee and sodas. Nothing with aspertaine or sucolose. Vegetable juicing can help. 1-3/glasses/day. More raw foods in the diet;less meat or none. Lower your stress. Try yoga and meditation or swimming and walking. Jump on a mini trampoline several times/day. Do a detox or a short fast with lots of water. I've had problems with constipation in the past and since I started taking natural psyllium husk fiber everyday, it's no longer a problem. I use a product like 'metamucil' that you mix with water and drink. Walmart sell a cheaper version 'equate' that is just as good. When necessary, you can add one capsule of 'Cascara Sagrada' 450 mg. Flax oil will also help things get moving. Ultimately, it's best to add fiber to your diet with food. Fruits like apples and vegetables are needed everyday. Start reading labels and eating cereals, crackers that boast a high fiber content. Good luck, Jean

Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I thought I'd reply to his post since I didn't see anything quite like what I am suggesting. This is my formula for constipation when all the things offered to me by everyone still did not work for me over the years. By the time I was an adult, I was so very tired of hearing about how I did not have enough fiber in my diet. I would try to up my fiber intake, only to have it cause horrible pain from gas. I became very frustrated and had a doctor take a special X-ray of my stomach once and show me " here's your problem, you are constipated. " I was really upset with this doctor because I had been constipated my entire life. It was not news flash. I just found nothing at all helped. Even at the height of my exercise routine " basic training in the Air Force " , I was still having problems, only too busy then too think about it much. After I came back from Desert Storm, I was very sick. Constipation was just one of my many symptoms. I was sent to a gastro clinic for some of the tests that were done on me and other Gulf vets for Phase I, II, and III of the research. I had solved my problem by the time I arrived at the gastro clinic and revealed to the specialist what I was doing. I even asked if it would cause me any harm. He said " no, not as long as you use only plain water. " I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome that day and have never needed any medication for it. I had to get rid of this problem quickly so the rest of my symptoms could be diagnosed. I found that I would do anything to decrease any pain when I had so much of it throughout my body. Now you have probably guessed that I started doing colonics. I read and researched how people do colonics and why. It really does not work for some people who can't get emotionally passed the idea of having to do this in addition to a normal system of elimination. However, I think that most people don't do it correctly and get frustrated with the results. I also think some people use things like soap, which never made much sense to me. Here's some rules I've learned: 1. I just use an inexpensive water bag you can buy at any drug store and keep it clean. You don't need much force. 2. I always use only plain water or sometimes a bit of some natural salt in the water. It helps with cramping. 3. I always have some sort of electrolyte drink before, during, or after I do it to keep from getting dehydrated. 4. I take some Aloe Vera in pill or liquid before I start so it's the next thing to go through my clean intestinal tract. This helps the irritated feeling my bowel always had. 5. I take some FOS and acidophilus in yogurt, kefir, or pill after I am done to give the good flora a chance to increase. I personally take an FOS, an acidophilus pill, and a psyllium daily because my problem was so chronic I just feel it helps keep things moving. I did the colonic weekly until I found I needed to do it less and less as my intestinal tract felt healthier. I adjusted everything to fit my needs and continue to do so. If I am going on a trip, and won't have time to do a colonic while traveling, I will take one Casa Sagura pill daily throughout the trip. This keeps me from having cramps and eliminating daily until I can return. As a footnote, I recently had a colonoscopy due to my age (52) and because of a VA routine requirement for those over age 50. It revealed no problems. I probably have the cleanest colon in town, and I never have gas. I find it one less problem for me to ever have to worry about. I would welcome feedback on my routine since I am not a physician, only someone who knows how to take care of me. Empowering you love and light... Guest guest
Joan, I started doing colonics weekly at first and then less often as I didn't need them as much. Now after several years of doing this, I do it only when I need it. You will be able to tell. I have regular movements now but still just know it makes me feel so much better not ever having to worry about gas or the pain of having gas. I've gone as long as 2 weeks and not felt the need to do a colonic at all. I think you will just have to see how you feel. I know some of the things I mention seem so simple, but I found them all helpful in combating the pain and making the intestine feel healthy. Since you are already seeing a specialist, you might want to ask them about doing this simple kind of colonic and whether cutting back your laxative medication should coincide with you doing the colonic. I would also ask about any possible interactions with the medicine you are already taking and the other things like the FOS or Acidopholus. These are things you probably have already thought of, but I feel better mentioning them as a caution. Sending you love and light... Guest guest
I developed very stubborn constipation about 5 years ago. I tried many things and nothing helped much. I went to an acupuncturist who as it turned out had invented a unique personal colonic device called Sitolonic. http://www.sitolonic.com/sitolonic.html The great thing about this device is it allows you to do colonics while sitting normally on the toilet. It's very compact, easy to set up and use, comfortable, works extremely well, and is portable so you can take it with you on trips. If there's a downside it's that it costs about $500 but for the peace of mind it gives you it's well worth it in my opinion. , jdicanio wrote: > > Does anyone have any suggestions, other than apple juice, of how to assist > with constipation, which is a chronic concern???? > > > > **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest > products. > (http://money.aol.com/special/hot-products-2007?NCID=aoltop00030000000001) > > >
Guest guest
Every issue in the body is attached to an unresolved emotion. Louise L Hay say's this about Constipation:Refusing to release old ideas. Stuck in the past. Sometimes stinginess. In energy work,we know that old core issues and unresolved emotions ( our baggage) is stored in the Large Intestine. When we resolve issues, our intestines will stop holding it all in. One of the many miserable effects of Parkinson's is stubborn constipation even on a good diet. I hang out on the list on behalf of a friend with severe early onset PD.
