Guest guest
I have been suffering from bouts of depression for off and on for about 7 years and have tried over the counter remedies such as 5 htp which did seem to help but am now looking into seeing a doctor about antidepressant medication that would cure my depression . But like many Americans I have no insurance and do not want to get on a medication that is expensive and/or does not work effectively . I also do not want to have side effects that make my depression worse .My New Years resolution is to be happy this year but am wondering what medication would actually accomplish that in the least amount of time with the least amount of side effects? Anybody have any experience ?

Guest guest
One poster says that there is no cure for depression. This might be true for the poster but this is too broad a statement to make. In other words, it depends on the cause of the depression whether it is " curable " or not. Some depressive states are based in an organic imbalance within the body and are definitely treatable. You may want to have yourself evaluated to find out what the cause is....then make up your own mind about you want to treat this. Drugs are one way to deal with depression. There are other methods that may help you feel better. Lately I have been reading about energy medicine and I have read that all negative emotions, including depression, are a result of an imbalance in the body's electrical system. I have seem remarkable, even miraculous, help from a procedure called EFT. I have had results with it myself. I also use an essential oil blend called Joy when I am feeling down. If you would like to know more about EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) visit www.emofree.com. There is no equipment needed for this technique; it's all done with tapping on the body. Looks weird but seems to work. I would encourage you to download the free manual which you can access at this sight. Also, if you would like to know more about Joy essential oil blend, please email me and I will give you the particulars. I wish you good luck and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! They all seem to work to a degree, but for a long time now I don't take anything. I've known friends and family on prescription meds like Prozac and Wellbutrin. I think it's just a temporary fix, adjusting the seratonin levels, etc., but I wouldn't recommend any prescription drugs for people, because they all have side effects, and many times the dosage has to be raised or other meds started because the first one if no longer effective. This is just my opinion, but my attitude is that life is good and I'm blessed to be alive to see the sunrise everyday and enjoy all the beauty of nature. Life isn't always a bowl of cherries, and there are times when illness, death, financial problems, etc. put people into a level of 'depression'. I think you can have a very happy new year without drugs, just a change of habit/attitudes. Wear brighter happier colors, use a light therapy device in the home or get out in the sun more, put some plants around the house, cuddle with your pets, if you don't have any, get one. Take walks through the woods or on the beach, get some exercise and get out of the house, get a hobby that you really like. Sometimes we feel good just by helping other people or animals. I try to remember that no matter how down I feel or what my situation is, there's ALWAYS someone else out there that is much worse off than me either physically, mentally, emotionally or financially. Good luck Maria, think positive and you will have a great 2008! I wish you all the best! PS: Omega 3 fish oil will help and it's good for sooo many other things too! Guest guest
Have you looked into dietary changes? Recently news focused on George Malkamus' dietary program. For information may consider what they had to say, why, his website, testimonies, etc. I recently met a woman who had had panic/anxiety attacks and was on meds. She started running daily, got into yoga and everything gone including her being off drugs now. She took herself slowly off. She's been " new " for a year now. Oh, JOY smells heavenly. I have a friend who wears it. I don't have experience with depression. My pricey insurance is expiring end of Feb. and surely have to look into something for emergencies only. Feel well all. May this be your best year!! carolg , " naturalhealthgirl2 " <wellness wrote: > > One poster says that there is no cure for depression. Guest guest
I would have to disagree with no cure for depression. I work with stressors ( via Biofeedback & Theta ) in the body that create depression with good results. Depression can be caused by any number of stressors. Stressors being anything that creates stress in the body and mind. When you remove the stressor healing takes place naturally. Neurotransmitters, hormones, deficiency in diet and nutrients, lack of exercise, lack of meditation etc all can contribute to depression and other symptoms. When you look at depression as a symptom of something deeper and not a disease or disfunction..you then find the underlying cause and the symptom ( depression ) then rectifies itself. Guest guest
Vitamin B and Flax Seed Oil can help a TON with depression and anxiety. Make sure that you are buying the flax seed that has to be refrigerated- the dry stuff you can keep in your cabinets does not work for this purpose. -Kerri --- Maria Flores <alexymariaflores wrote: > I have been suffering from bouts of depression for > off and on for about > 7 years and have tried over the counter remedies > such as 5 htp which > did seem to help but am now looking into seeing a > doctor about > antidepressant medication that would cure my > depression . Guest guest
<<<Vitamin B and Flax Seed Oil can help a TON with depression and anxiety.>>> Yes! Specifically, B6 and Omega 3. EFT (addresses the cause with amazing results), oxygen, dietary changes, balancing Ph, detox (especially heavy metals) and exercise.
