My 10-yr-old Vita-mix is still going strong except that the blade

assembly is hard to turn. Just thought I'd ask here to see if anybody

has come up with a cheap solution. I assume that's a bearing in there?

Sure don't want to pay $100-plus for a new blade assembly...

thanks

Hi Joy,

That happened to mine too - but luckily it happened within the 7 year

warantee period and they sent me a new free one. It was easy to

change. I'm not really sure how you would fix a bearing though, I

don't think you can even get to the inner " workings " , and even if you

do, you may damage it. You might have to order a new blade assembly.

Hi Joy,

In the Vitamix manual the say to periodically oil the bearing. Check

your manual and see if this is an option. Sometime you can add /

extend a warranty and have the blade replaced ... it may be an option.

Not sure what I paid to extend the warranty but I was able to replace

the blade and later, one of the containers that developed small cracks.

If function does not improve after a drop of oil and they won't allow

you to extend the warranty (at a reasonable price) consider buying the

blade assembly or a new container.
