Guest guest
My 10-yr-old Vita-mix is still going strong except that the blade assembly is hard to turn. Just thought I'd ask here to see if anybody has come up with a cheap solution. I assume that's a bearing in there? Sure don't want to pay $100-plus for a new blade assembly... thanks Joy
Guest guest
Hi Joy, That happened to mine too - but luckily it happened within the 7 year warantee period and they sent me a new free one. It was easy to change. I'm not really sure how you would fix a bearing though, I don't think you can even get to the inner " workings " , and even if you do, you may damage it. You might have to order a new blade assembly. Carol , " jmr1290 " <jomarex wrote: > > My 10-yr-old Vita-mix is still going strong except that the blade > assembly is hard to turn. Guest guest
Hi Joy, In the Vitamix manual the say to periodically oil the bearing. Check your manual and see if this is an option. Sometime you can add / extend a warranty and have the blade replaced ... it may be an option. Not sure what I paid to extend the warranty but I was able to replace the blade and later, one of the containers that developed small cracks. If function does not improve after a drop of oil and they won't allow you to extend the warranty (at a reasonable price) consider buying the blade assembly or a new container.
