Swollen area long after injury

My daughter badly scraped her leg five months ago. She was out camping

so probably didn't clean it up as much as she should have. When I saw

her a couple days later, I gave her my healing salve, and it appeared

to heal nicely. She actually had about 4 or 5 bad scrapes! They all

healed fine except this one on her outer thigh. It still is a little

mottled looking on the outside, but what concerns me and her is that

it's sort of swollen/puffy looking in that area. You could cup your

hand around the swollen area.

I can't think of what would address this or what this might be -

trapped infection or fluid, something else in the muscle that's

reacted? It hurts her to press on it very hard. Any suggestions or

help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much,

Cindy

There are a couple of things that could cause this. One is of course trapped

infection under the skin that healed over the area and another is deep tissue

injury which can take many, many, months to heal if not treated correctly with

physical therapy consisting of massage soon after the injury. Is it red along

with the swelling? If so, a trip to a doctor is definitely in order. I would

start giving her the Homeopathic remedy Arnica 30 C twice a day for seven day

and then Byronia 30 C for another two weeks.

If you have any doubt that this could be serious, always see an MD or Holistic

physician before you start any " home treatments " . This should be a rule of

thumb, ALWAYS.

Cindy, what was in your healing salve?

Is it is possible that the skin healed so fast, for instance because

comfrey was helping, that some infection got trapped?

ITA, if ANY red streaks show up, run for medical help.

You don't want to mess with blood poisoning.

But for just a relatively harmless red area, you might want to try

plantain, or salves containing it and/or clay for drawing out toxins

topically.

Internally you can support the cleanup and healing process with

formulas that encourage free flow of lymphatic fluid, like homeopathic

Arnica or Recovazon (the last one is from the rainforest store),

and/or use Enzymes in between meals to scavenge junk out of the blood.

If it a muscular thing, I highly recommend Recovazon. It acts as a

muscle relaxer as well as an anti-infammatory.

Good luck with it!

I would see a doctor. Could be anything from an infection to a blood clot.

Thanks, Ien (and everyone else). What you're saying makes a lot of

sense. My salve does heal fast so it may, indeed, have healed too fast

and trapped infection. When I saw her, though, it wasn't open or at a

point where I thought to warn her not to use it. But she did comment

that, before that, there had been a yellow fluid seeping out at times.

I will ask her about the red streaks right away. I didn't notice any,

just a mottled appearance. Thanks for the warning - that's what I want

to know: When to submit to traditional help, and when to take it slow

and natural.

The salve to draw out whatever may be trapped in there is exactly what

was lurking back in my brain that I couldn't think of! Can't hurt to

do any of that so I'll let her know.

Thanks so much,

Cindy

It would be helpful to take a high quality collodial silver internally

too to cover her that way. Tea Tree oil put on the sides of the

injury, where the red is will penetrate deep, get into the tissues and

kill bacteria. Being careful not to close the wound before it is ready.

Since you mention that she didnt clean it properly, maybe she has some

dirt or rocks trapped under the scrape and it's slowly getting

infected. You should take her to a doctor to get it checked out

incase there is a infection and you can stop it before it gets worse

and needs more attention

Namaste,

It sounds like your daughter might have an abscess...pus and infection under the

skin.

The thigh muscle is one of a lot of friction from a lot of movement and it takes

longer to

heal anyway.

Sounds like she may need something to kill off the bacteria and infection. If

you want to

go mainline, take her to the doctor for antibiotics.

Tea Tree Oil is an antiseptic and antipuretic.

I would go for both. You don't want it to become worse and get in her blood

stream and

spread to her whole body.

Blessings!
