Guest guest
Does anyone know what the consequences of an elevated DHEA are? I just did a full blood work and the only thing that was abnormal was this hormone. Since I put on weight weekly I thought that my thyroid was the problem but it is not. Does DHEA affect weight, do you know? Thanks for the help. Guest guest
I would suggest that you speak with the healthcare provider that performed your tests for more information specific to you ~ age, lifestyle, etc. DHEA actually aids weight loss. Elevated levels in women are linked with breast cancer. Guest guest
The MD knows squat (what else is new?) Has no idea why it is elevated. But, very wisely, she is sending me to an endocrinologist. I was reading about it and hypothyroidism and so on, and in fact, one of the symptoms of an elevated DHEA is weight gain. I was taking Iodine and was under your natural progesterone cream and stopped them because I wanted to have an accurate count of my hormone levels. Decided to wait until I see the specialist. Of course, everything else will be done using natural remedies. Thanks! BTW: I was told to do a mammogram, a tetanus shot, and a colonoscopy and I refused them all. Couldn't escape papsmear, but then... See ya. Guest guest
Hi Maria, Hmmmm. People use DHEA to lose weight so having weight gain as a 'symptom' of elevated DHEA is confusing to me. Most of the (midlife) women I work with have weight gain associated with low DHEA and high cortisol. Hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue are connected as a result. I'll have to look into it more when I have time. I saw an allopathic MD for a physical when I turned 50. Ordered a colonoscopy based on my age and I refused. Next thing I knew, I received a certified letter in the mail saying that because I wouldn't comply, I was no longer his patient. Fine with me!
