Good Morning!

It's Your Lucky Day: The Metaphysics of Creating Good Luck!

Luck. What exactly is luck? Is luck being at the right place at the

right time? Finding that lucky penny? Always landing on your feet?

Finding a four leaf clover? Discovering bird droppings on your

shoulder?

What ever your idea of luck, research has found that people are

divided. Thanks to the research of Dr. Richard Wiseman in

collaboration with Dr. Matthew Smith and Dr. Peter Harris, The Luck

Project was born. " Conceived to scientifically explore psychological

differences between people who considered themselves exceptionally

lucky and unlucky " , The Luck Project discovered some incredible

results. " The results of this work reveal that people are not born

lucky. Instead, lucky people are, without realizing it, using four

basic principles to create good fortune in their lives " .

Principle One: Maximize Chance Opportunities

Lucky people are skilled at creating, noticing and acting upon chance

opportunities. They do this in various ways, including networking,

adopting a relaxed attitude to life and by being open to new

experiences.

Principle Two: Listening to Lucky Hunches

Lucky people make effective decisions by listening to their intuition

and gut feelings. In addition, they take steps to actively boost

their intuitive abilities by, for example, meditating and clearing

their mind of other thoughts.

Principle Three: Expect Good Fortune

Lucky people are certain that the future is going to be full of good

fortune. These expectations become self-fulfilling prophecies by

helping lucky people persist in the face of failure, and shape their

interactions with others in a positive way.

Principle Four: Turn Bad Luck to Good

Lucky people employ various psychological techniques to cope with,

and often even thrive upon, the ill fortune that comes their way. For

example, they spontaneously imagine how things could have been worse,

do not dwell on the ill fortune, and take control of the

situation. Our most recent research has shown that these four

principles can be used to enhance the amount of good fortune that

people experience in their lives " .

Seven Lucky Tips

1. The expression of confidence is a definite component of luck in a

certain class of situations (especially social, and sometimes dealing

with animals as well). From some perspectives confidence might appear

best classified as a subset of optimism.

2. Networking of one form or another, believe it or not, is something

lifeforms (and even inanimate objects!) were doing long before

intelligence sprouted to take credit for it.

3. Preparation , practice, and study. The motto of the Boy Scouts

is " be prepared " . This notion, where actually executed prior to a

crisis, can literally mean the difference between life and death. In

less extreme circumstances it can mean the difference between a

comfortable and interesting life, and a mediocre, painful, and boring

one.

4. Leveraging the existing social order is often essential to good

fortune. For example, in modern society quite a bit can be

accomplished simply by cooperating with various bureaucracies and

completing the proper paperwork-- while on the flip side, the lack of

such cooperation or papers can bring even the most grandiose of

projects to a standstill.

5. Risk-taking can be either voluntary or not, but just as you must

usually pass through a doorway to gain access to a new environment,

you must usually take a risk to find or exploit new opportunities.

Risk accompanies virtually every breath and step we take in this

world. It's a part of living.

6. Timing is sort of the metaphysical correlate to the modern maxim

that " location, location, and location " are the three most important

aspects to real estate values. If a person could fully exploit the

timing of events, even just in the daily hum drum circumstances of

their own life, they could in many cases accomplish amazing things.

7. Self-discipline. Mastering your own 'flight or fight' response:

remaining cool and collected when those around you aren't, can at

minimum present you with certain unique opportunities for

advancement, and at maximum enable you to save your own life and

those of others.

The Symbols of Luck

A symbolic object is a term used for the representation of a piece of

jewelry or charm that is utilized as a mental focus for creating

positive change. The very same object may work as a talisman, amulet

or good luck charm depending on how it is used. Hailed as folk

terminology, they may have differing definitions from place to place

and person to person- but here are some basics:

Talismans

This is a term usually given to a piece of jewelry or decoration,

which is intended to keep away negative influences. These objects are

usually displayed openly and are often given as gifts. Talismans are

perfect gifts for new home owners, children, newlyweds and others

experiencing a major change in life. You might notice that sometimes

a Talisman is said to have an attractive or positive quality, such

as " for wealth " . This typically works by dispelling the opposite. So,

for example a " for wealth " talismans would actually work by keeping

away poverty or financial difficulties. Remember that what makes a

talisman is the intent and how it is used not the actual object. A

necklace that works as a talisman to one person might be a good luck

charm to another.

Amulets

Amulet is a term given to a symbolic object, which is meant to

attract energies. Amulets are often kept hidden or displayed very

discreetly and without drawing attention to their true function. (For

example, many people wear " decorative " necklaces or earrings which

are in fact amulets.) Amulets work by helping to focus our sub-

conscious minds on what we wish to create so that we may more

effectively draw those things toward us. Traditionally amulets are

both given to those in need of them, and acquired independently by

those wishing to use them. Amulets are terrific for those about to

undertake difficult tasks, make major changes or take risks in their

lives.

Good Luck Charms

Good luck charms are personal symbols we choose for ourselves. These

are symbols which connect us to our deeper spiritual knowledge or

which make us feel positive about ourselves and the world we live in.

Good luck charms can be any symbol or object at all which inspires us

and are often displayed and used quite publicly. Images of animal

totems, angels, fairies and leprechauns are common good luck charms

as are favorite pieces of jewelry, key chains and " lucky coins. " A

good luck charm is appropriate any time you run across a symbol or

object that makes you feel good and which you want to have as part of

your daily life.

Scrying (Mirrors, crystal balls...)

Scrying is the ancient art of clairvoyance achieved by concentrating

on an object - usually one with a reflective or semi-reflective

surface (mirror, crystal ball, water, etc.) - until visions appear.

The term scrying comes from the English word descry, which means 'to

make out dimly' or 'to reveal.' The services of the scryer typically

are sought for predictions of the future, answers to questions and

tracking down criminals, just to name a few. Can be used to enhance

your ability to read a blocked mind. Or one with a shield.

Feng Shui Tips for Luck

Health Wealth and Water

Need increased prosperity? An energy boost? Perhaps better health? A

tabletop fountain with the soothing sound of moving water is the

appropriate cure. Whether on a desk, in the front entrance, in the

kitchen or in the bedroom; nothing attracts wealth and good luck like

a water fountain.

Water fountains that pool water symbolize pooling wealth. The water

element is about the flow of energy, clarity and attracts Qi, life

force energy. Qi enhances health and prosperity. Turn the fountain so

that the water flows to the center of the room or environment for

maximum results, this brings Qi and good luck into the home or

office. Running water helps move positive energy through the space.

It is extremely soothing, very calming and sets a nice ambiance for

any room.

Lucky With Coins

Tape three coins tied with red thread, Yang side up, to your most

important file in the office. The Yang side has four characters

rather than two characters on the Yin side. This can be a sales or

invoicing file or it can be your order book or the file of bank

accounts. Placing the coins there will ensure your cash flow stays

healthy throughout the New Year.

Hang three Chinese I-Ching coins on the door handles of the inside of

your main door. Tie the coins together with red string or thread in 8-

inch increments to activate the prosperity already inside.

Tie three coins with 8-inch cut red thread and put them in each

handbag and wallet or purse. This activates a never-ending source of

income. Three is a luck number as it represents the union of heaven,

earth and man. The red thread activates the Yang energies of the

coins.

Empower Your Surroundings with Crystals

Enhance mental clarity of mind and expand your thoughts by hanging a

faceted crystal ball in the knowledge Bagua of your home, office or

bedroom, or one in each place. For a richer effect, hang your crystal

with a fishing line and add a red ribbon, cut to a multiple of 9 " in

length.

Enhance your career with a crystal over your sitting position. Hang

it over your head where you sit at your desk. This cure protects you

from attack and stimulates an expansion of knowledge and ideas,

including clearer thinking, better decisions. Enhance inner growth,

peace and deeper sleep with a crystal over or next to your bed. This

cure promotes ease in falling asleep, peaceful dreams, calmness and

freedom.
