A friend of mine is struggling with strep throat. The doc keeps giving

her antibiotics which temporarily knock it out, but then it comes back.

My guess is that her immune system is just weak right now and that's

why she can't ditch the strep.

Do any of you have any good tips or advice that I could give her?

Antibiotics are a short term answer, in the long term they kill the

good bacteria in the intestinal tract that are a big part of your

immune system. I will feel much better about " the system " when MDs

start prescribing probiotics, automatically, any time an antibiotic

has been used.

Anyway, apart from doing a diet with lots of good whole foods, your

friend need to re-introduce good bacteria into her guts.

MASSIVE probiotics can act as an antibiotic.

Has your friend gargled with anything?

Lemon juice, salt water, a drop of Oregano oil diluted in water,

garlic juice, sage tea, Echinacea tincture, you get the picture. Lots

of natural substances are astringent, so they take the swelling down,

and have some antibacterial action.

from ezinearticles.com:

Home remedies for strep throat that can act as antibiotics are garlic, honey,

olive leaf

extract and tea tree oil. Such home remedies for strep throat can help in

fighting infection

and inflammation, but medical treatment shouldn't be ignored. In fact, most home

remedies for strep throat should be used only in addition to medical treatment

with

antibiotics.

Home remedies for strep throat pain, discomfort and soreness are chamomile,

sage,

peppermint, lavender, jasmine, rosemary and thyme. These can either be used as

essences

or ointments and are very efficient in reducing the pain and for relaxing the

body.

Peppermint and chamomile teas can relief abdominal pain, reduce nausea and can

also

correct internal disorders such as diarrhea.

A quick, effective, home remedy for strep throat is salty water gargle. By

washing the oral

cavity with salty water a few times a day you can help the body in overcoming

the bacteria

responsible for the infection.

When suffering from strep throat, make sure you get enough sleep. Sleep is vital

for body

regeneration and for maintaining a strong immune system. However, due to the

discomfort and pain caused by the infection with bacteria, you might have

difficulties in

falling asleep. Home remedies for strep throat that have both sedative and

analgesic

effects are ginseng and passion flower.

Home remedies for strep throat are a very good means of speeding up the process

of

recovery. By following an appropriate medical treatment and a few good home

remedies

for strep throat, you will quickly overcome the infection and revitalize your

body.

I am sorry that your friend has strep throat.

I used to get that all the time and was taking

antibotics all the time. I found out that that is not

always the way to go, becasue in my case I end up with

bad kidneys. That was from all the infection and

eventually the antibotics stopped working. Keep an I

on the kidneys, especially if there is too much

protein in the urine. I all had my tonsils removed

last year, and he told me at the age of 48 that they

should of been taken out along time ago. They where

to large, and then it caused me to have sleep apnea.

Hope this has helped. They told me strep is from the

immune system being to lw

I'm going to put my favorite concoction for knocking out a sore

throat, including strep, below. But, with all the antibiotics and

maybe being unwell in general, your friend most likely will need to do

more than just this to truly be healthy again.

She'll need to take some great probiotics for a while. All the

antibiotic use has probably killed off the good bacteria she needs.

Probiotics will help replace that.

Then there is looking at her lifestyle overall - too much sugar or

fake sugar, too much junk food, lack of fresh air and exercise,

stress, little sleep and so on. Everything plays a part. It's not that

she has to be perfect 24/7, but you do have to take care of yourself a

good part of the time to be well. Then you can indulge and be *bad*

once in a while!

Here's the recipe:

Mix three tablespoons of both lemon juice and apple cider vinegar (the

good, brownish, natural stuff, not the white, devoid-of-anything

vinegar), two tablespoons of honey and 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

into 16 ounces of filtered water. Stir well. Sip this over a short

period of time. If you have a particularly nasty sore throat, you will

want to have another glass later in the day or early the next. You can

repeat more if you need.
