The dilapidated tiled structure housing the hospital for several decades has been pulled down to construct a new building that can accommodate 200 beds. Speciality services like panchakarma, surgery and proctologic care will be available to patients on completion of the new building. Ayurvedic College principal K.Bhushanam said that the Department of AYUSH sanctioned Rs.50 lakhs for the construction of a hospital building with a plinth area of 3,844 feet. The amount had been deposited with the A.P.M.H.I.D.C, Hyderabad Hospital superintendent K.Ravindranath said over 48,000 patients visited the hospital from April to November and 41,000 patients were treated as outpatients and 7,700 as inpatients. The hospital at present had four inpatient general wards - male medical (charaka), female medical and surgical (susrutha), maternity and paediatric (vaghbata) and male surgical (kasyapa). It offered panchakarma therapy and surgery for ksharasutra and piles. More than Rs 50 lakhs would be required for completion of the hospital building. The Krishna district Collector had been asked to sanction Rs 20 lakhs and AYUSH commissioner would also be approached for more funds, the superintendent said. © Copyright 2000 - 2005 The Hindu Entire article at : http://www.hindu.com/2005/12/08/stories/2005120811500300.htm We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount.
