Bringing you the inside story on topics that matter

(Please forward to others who may benefit)

The most important story hitting the headlines right now isn't one

that we've published yet: it's the story about the New England Journal

of Medicine accusing Merck of scientific fraud.

According to the Journal, Merck selectively and knowingly deleted

clinical data that showed Vioxx to be dangerous. This was done to hide

the dangers of the drug.

The New York Times covers the story quite well at:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/08/business/08cnd-merck.html

The conspiracy of scientific fraud committed by Big Pharma is

something that NewsTarget readers have known about for quite some time.

It may be recent news to the rest of the world, but it's old news to

us.

I've covered Vioxx in great detail in previous articles:

http://www.webseed.com/vioxx.html

Note that if any other company committed such violations that

ultimately lead to the deaths of over 60,000 Americans, there would be

Dept. of Justice investigations and CEOs would go to jail.

But watch this situation carefully: Merck will get off with another

slap on the wrist, most likely. Because Big Pharma seems conveniently

immune to the laws that govern the rest of the nation. Might makes

right, it seems.
