Guest guest
I hope someone here will be able to give me some advice about things that help the liver to heal or at the very least to function better. Also what things should be avoided if one has a damaged liver. Let me explain... My nephew (39) began to feel lethargic and generally unwell then a week later he began to break out in sores. I advised him to start pumping the vitamin C, 1000mg ever hour around the clock and eating a lot of raw garlic & drinking a lot of distilled water. I told him these sores were a sign that something was very wrong in his body and and he shouldn't just ignore it, but he did. Within days the sores became horrible huge things the size of silver dollars that had nickel sized " heads " that were black and when he went to the hospital to have them looked at and the doctors dug them out of him they left holes an inch deep that had to be packed with gauze (he said the " cores " were about two inches long and smelled like rot. They gave him Septra (BAD) and he went through not one but two rounds (bottles) of the junk. I kept telling him to take C & garlic & water instead but he laughed at me and trusted the doctors and their drugs. (The doctors later told him the Septra was at least partly responsible for his liver damage) Three weeks later he felt worse than before and went back to the hospital and they said he had had an infection, " probably " staf and gave him another antibiotic. He went back a week later yellow. They did tests and said he had hepatitis B and sent him home with no treatment or advise. They told him it would just run it's course. Again I advised him to do the C, garlic & water and gave him a box of my milk thistle tea, but he continued to ignore me. His mother, [sister dear (heh)], is largely responsible for the way he dismisses my knowledge of natural health methods so don't be too hard on him. A few days later he was admitted and in serious shape. He has managed to hold on for almost a month, almost dying several times. I tried to get his mother to try to get him sodium ascorbate by i.v. and printed her out a lot of information about it, but she dismissed it. She wouldn't even give it to him by mouth. Now his liver is damaged, they said there is a lot of cirrosis and he is on the organ/liver donor wait list. He is only just now beginning to get better and they said perhaps in a week they will let him come home. I think, if this brush with death has had any effect on him at all, that he might be willing to listen to my talk about natural health so I'll be at his house a lot to help in him to recover. While I know a lot about natural/alterative methods for other health problems I am a little in the dark when it comes to a damaged liver so if you all could help me to help him, I'd truly appreciate it. What are things he should stay away from besides salt and animal proteins? Would coffee enemas be too hard on him at the present? Do castor oil packs really work? What foods/supplements would help his liver heal? I thank you in advance for your help. Noelle
Guest guest
Hello Noelle, Sounds that you are knowledgeable but even if you come to him with the list of right things to do, his attitude (and his mother's ) looks to me like the real probem. In my opinion, he should first understand that the doctors FAILED, that they are not experts on this and that his laugh was not in place and that you were right when you said that there was a need to look on alternative way. Only when he and his mother realize that the doctors caused him harm and/ or not help him = failed, he could be open to hear something else instead of giving the doctors more and more chances. If a person doesn't want to listen, then I don't think you can force him. What you can do is show him alternative information sources so he sees (and his mother) that you are not the only " crazy " person around, and that smart and knowledgable people came to the same conclusion like you. For example the website of Andrew Saul www.doctoryourself.com Iris. - <NRuehl Tuesday, January 03, 2006 9:03 PM Liver Damage > I hope someone here will be able to give me some advice about things > that help the liver to heal or at the very least to function better. > Also what things should be avoided if one has a damaged liver. Guest guest
I was diagnosed with hep-c..oh, 5 or 6 years ago. IT WAS THE ITCHING, that got me to the doctor. Of course, he wants me on that regular killer treatment. humph! I immediately started on milk thistle cpasules that I found thru' a search on the internet. I've since discovered they are the strongest, most assimable (<sp?) available. I've had some different ssymptoms to deal with over the years. It was about a year and a half ago, I started getting funny little sores on my face. I went to an acupuncture/TCM guy. He gave me some tablets...awful smelling things. One, I remember was called *ZHU DAN*, I think the other was SALVIA LAGUISTA....or something like that. I looked around, and asked a lot of questions..everywhere. A couple of things I use to make a tea, are Dandilion root and schisandra berries, and Ginko leaf (or root, or something). I just buy the stuff in bulk at the natch food store. Absolutely YES to the distilled water! I take a lot of C, and a lot of zinc. I take a lot of other things, but not specifically for hepatitis. My doctor is a schmuck, and blames everything on my liver. I think if I fell and broke something he'd say it was my liver. However...he did give a big YES to the zinc, and allowed how the C *wouldn't hurt me*... ahem... I dont even bother to bring things up to him, anymore. Maybe if your nephew won't listen to you, you could suggest he find a local group of heppers (look on the net, look in the newspaper). I just betcha there will be at least half of them that don't *DO* doctors, but do *DO* alternate therapies. He can see with his own eyes (first of course, he will need eyes to see,and ears to hear) that the alternative therapy people are getting along a lot better than those going with doctor drugs. Oh, oh, oh... BUPLEURUM, but I don't know if he'd be up to a liver cleanse just yet, tho' it might be necessary. I wouldn't try a any kind of enema. ~mk , NRuehl@w... wrote: > > I hope someone here will be able to give me some advice about things > that help the liver to heal or at the very least to function better. > Also what things should be avoided if one has a damaged liver.
