Guest guest
I have a questions about green tea extract or just drinking gree tea. I have, with the excpetion of coffee in the morning and some water, had gone almost exlusively to drinking green tea for about a year and a half. Recently I had run across a glossary of herbs & vitamins on line which explained that green tea extract blocks the formation of melanin. Melanin, of course, is what causes you to tan and protects your body from UV radiation but I have also read that it can be a receptor or collecting point for toxins and therefore cancers. My point is that I have for some time felt like I was burning more easily when I was out in the sun and that my hair was getting siginificantly lighter. I am fair complected- blond hair and green eyes. I just attributed this to the fact that I was in my middle 40's and getting older- male. Now after reading this I am wondering if drinking so much green tea was the cause of my seemingly greater susceptability to damage from the sun as it might be blocking my bodies formation of melanin. FYI, I do use sun screen and a sun hat but I am forced on the weekends to be out in the sun during the day. Any opinions/suggestions on my concersn are welcome. Thanks! Moderator's Note: I am not familar with the connection, but I can't imagine much of a problem. After all most areas of Asia have been been drinking green tea for thousands of years and don't seem to have a problem with melanin production. That should qualify as some evidenced based something or other. Of course, we can't say what your problem is.
Guest guest
Green tea actually has anti-tumour/cancer properties especially regarding stomach/skin cancer and will boost the immune system. Maybe your 'problem' is just one of ageing - I'm dark haired (was) and brown eyed but where I used to be able to soak up the sun, I now burn quite easily - I'm 53 Ray. , " rahkling7 " <rahkling7 wrote: > > I have a questions about green tea extract or just drinking gree tea. > I have, with the excpetion of coffee in the morning and some water, had > gone almost exlusively to drinking green tea for about a year and a > half. Guest guest
Does anybody know whether it's true that all tea, including green tea, has flourides in the tea bags? That's what turned me off and stopped drinking tea. Guest guest
Marcola.com has an article on green tea containing fluoride. That's one of the reasons I quit, that and caffeine sensitivity... D.
