I am in the camp that has used electrically made (have used it off and on

for 30 years and I am not blue or ill) " CS " mainly known as EIS

Electrolytically isolated silver. I was chemically intolerant when I

started but slowly got better, though not just from CS but from diet

changes, homeopathics and flower essences

This is CS made by DC or AC means with no protein stabilizers. There are

problems with the protein stabilized ones. Stick with the 5ppm to 30ppm

ELECTRICALLY MADE TYPE. Most commercial producers go for speed of

production :o((( not quality and most commercially available CS is actually

MSP [mild silver protein] or called protein stabilized, not to use in the

eyes.

You do have to investigate the type sold, much better IMO to make your own.

Using pure .999 or .9999 silver, no salts and good distilled water (needs

less than 5ppm contaminants in it for the EIS to be made properly) not hard

to do though.

The higher doses like 500 ppm personally I would not feel safe myself using

it. Besides the 10 ppm EIS type works so well. Make sure it is not a

homeopathic remedy either as some are sold as CS and you do not want to use

these remedies as they can cause symptoms (like edginess)

You might join some of the better email groups and learn how it should be

used (it must come in contact with the pathogen to be effective and is not

use like an antibiotic) it should be in contact for 10 minutes for instance

and used in a nebulizer to lung infections.

Most of the problems come from not know what and how to use it.

It is use in burn units impregnated in bandages to help healing and prevent

scarring.

It is also used in filters to purify water or water treatment plants in

European and African countries.

http://www.silvermedicine.org/ being one of the best sites :o)))) Place with

good visual instructions to make your own CS generator, history etc. And no

hype to sell you something. Yes some of the other sites are in the my kind

is the best kind and you do need to take the information and do some real

research on it.

I have been doing that for a long time and have a lot more info, I have

bought books from various authors etc to understand all the different ways

that it is used.

------

On September 16, 1999, The FDA issued a final ruling on any and all

colloidal silver products. With the a brisk pen-stroke invoking the FDA's

broad power, the ruling proclaimed and entered into law that any silver

substance in a gelatinous solution could not be sold as a medicinal

substance. The ruling categorized colloidal silver as an unclassified drug.

Any colloidal silver products marketed as medicinal are now in violation of

federal law.

However, due to the fact that silver is both a natural substance AND not a

controlled substance, it is still protected under the Dietary Supplement

Health and Education Act. Under this law, any medicinal labeling and/or

advertising referring to any benefits of the substance in question is

unlawful. The substance must be labeled as a dietary supplement and may NOT

be marketed for external use.

The innocent bystander might assume that the FDA took this action based on

collected research data that demonstrates that colloidal silver is a harmful

substance, and thus the public should be protected from its abuse. HOWEVER,

this is not the case. The following letter, written by the FDA in compliance

with the Freedom of Information Act, clearly shows that the FDA's action to

ban colloidal silver sales was NOT motivated by ANY data suggesting harm.

Rosemary was not taking colloidal silver but a ground mixture which is way

bigger silver particles. It takes a LOT of exposure to that size of

particle to have the skin turn grey. There are lots on the list that have

been drinking a quart a day for years of Colloidal Silver. Particles are so

small that the CS is excreted from the body in 2 hours. Yes someone took the

time and trouble to check and weigh the silver in his urine and stools to

check this out.

Silver as a historical antibiotic

Silver was used through the ages as a germ-killing agent because at those

times they had few other choices. There were no antibiotics, and no natural

germ-fighters had been discovered. Because people in general did not know

that it was important to take large amounts of vitamin C (most people still

don't), their immune systems were severely compromised for much of their

lives. Thus silver was considered a life-saving medicine. Silver nitrate

drops were used to prevent eye infections in newborns, for instance.

Silver was (appropriately) essentially dropped from use in the U.S.

with

the introduction of antibiotics and biochemical antiseptics, but suddenly

gained popularity again in the 1990s. The FDA proposed banning silver in

over-the-counter products in 1997, and issued a final rule in 1999, but

never acted on it.

snip

This is one of the few times when I believe the government should act to ban

a health " supplement. " Silver is fine for coins and jewelry (although for

earrings it should have a stainless steel hook for pierced ears). But silver

compounds should not be sold in products that people consume. I believe

silver is a clear and present danger to anyone who consumes it. Furthermore,

having this " supplement " available provides ammunition for the drug

companies and other anti-natural supplement forces for full FDA regulation

of supplements, which would kill the entire natural supplement industry.

Cutis 2000 Nov;66(5):373-4 Abstract quote

The onset of argyria following the use of dietary supplements containing

colloidal silver protein is presented. The patient was using a

silver-containing product for cold and allergy prophylaxis.

We review the past and present medicinal roles of silver and include a

differential diagnosis for argyria. The hyperpigmentation of argyria is

usually permanent, and it follows a sun-exposed distribution.

Clinical Neuropathology 1984 Jan-Feb;3(1):32-6

Cutaneous argyria was diagnosed in a 59-year-old woman. Manic depressive

psychosis developed at about the same or a short time thereafter.

The

patient died 6 years later from a ruptured aortic aneurysm. At autopsy

silver deposits were seen in skin, mucous membranes, heart, kidney, and

liver. In the central nervous system the leptomeninges and choroid plexuses

contained silver granules.

FDA Final Ruling, 1999

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

Food and Drug Administration

21 CFR Part 310

[Docket No. 96N-0144]

Over-the-Counter Drug Products Containing Colloidal Silver Ingredients or

Silver Salts

AGENCY: Food and Drug Administration, HHS.

ACTION: Final rule.

---

--

SUMMARY: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is issuing a final rule

establishing that all over-the-counter (OTC) drug products containing

colloidal silver ingredients or silver salts for internal or external use

are not generally recognized as safe and effective and are misbranded. FDA

is issuing this final rule because many OTC drug products containing

colloidal silver ingredients or silver salts are being marketed for numerous

serious disease conditions and FDA is not aware of any substantial

scientific evidence that supports the use of OTC colloidal silver

ingredients or silver salts for these disease conditions.

DATES: This regulation is effective September 16, 1999.

Our findings indicate that the affinity of silver for membrane and neuronal

structures and the deposition of silver as an insoluble compound (Ag2S)

induce the progression of clinical disease.
