Guest guest
I've been informed by my daughter's preschool (which is a nature based pre-school) that they will be going out on the nature trails and by the horses and so forth and that they have encountered some ticks already. Now my daughter is only 15 months old, so she'll be riding in a buggy and not wandering on the trails, but I still want to make sure she is protected. Can someone recommend a natural mosquito/tick repellant I could buy to leave at the daycare please? If it has a natural sunscreen in it too, that's even better. Thanks! Guest guest
The best is to go to a health food store and see what formulas they have. Read ingredients carefully. Citronella is one of the herbs to repel mosquitoes, but not the only one. Rena - Paula Wednesday, April 23, 2008 4:16 PM Would like recommendations for natural mosquito/tick repellant for toddler... Guest guest
The B vitamins will repel insects however i think they need to be taken in advance for several weeks. There is one specific B vitamin that does the job but cant remember. A little research could give the answer. May have been B6. I would also need to check with a pediatric physician if one should give a 15 month old anything. Guest guest
Hello Paula, I learned about a patch that works as a natural mosquito repellant - I purchased the product last year at a time I needed most - during a bootcamp class I was in - The product worked great for me - no mosquito bites. Here is a link to their website. http://www.dontbitemepatch.com/ Monica Houston, TX , " Paula " <pokeracepj wrote: > > I've been informed by my daughter's preschool (which is a nature based > pre-school) that they will be going out on the nature trails and by the > horses and so forth and that they have encountered some ticks already. > > Now my daughter is only 15 months old, so she'll be riding in a buggy > and not wandering on the trails, but I still want to make sure she is > protected. > > Can someone recommend a natural mosquito/tick repellant I could buy to > leave at the daycare please? Guest guest
Have you heard of spraying Listerine around the area where you are or around the doors, windows, etc? I just received a message regarding this and was wondering whether it works or not. Doesn't cost much to try, though. , Steven Wilson <antiqmon2004 wrote: > > The B vitamins will repel insects however i think they need to be taken in advance for several weeks. Guest guest
Citronella essential oil added to a carrier oil and applied to the skin is good as an insect repellent. , Steven Wilson <antiqmon2004 wrote: > > The B vitamins will repel insects however i think they need to be taken in advance for several weeks. Guest guest
As one of those people the skeeters view as a feast on legs, the only thing I've found that works is vitamin B6. I've tried DEET, citronella, clove oil, citrus oil, any damn thing that would keep them away! Not only do they love me, I get large welts everywhere they bite me. Mowing the lawn was a nightmare! Since someone here mentioned trying B6 a couple weeks ago I've been taking it. Today I worked outside all day and NOT ONE SINGLE BITE! Thanks whoever that was! > , Steven Wilson > <antiqmon2004@> wrote: > > > > The B vitamins will repel insects however i think they need to be > taken in advance for several weeks. Guest guest
I've always had good luck with both brewers yeast and garlic. Taking caps of brewers yeast before a camping or hiking trip will keep the mosquitos away. Great to give your dogs to keep fleas away too.
