With the Flax Seed do you grind it or take it whole? I already have Flax

Seed but have been using them whole on my breakfast cereal.

Cheers

Flax seed should be ground fresh right before you eat it. It gets rancid quickly

after it is ground. If eaten whole it can go straight through and you don't get

any benefit from it.

I am not the original author of the first reply to you but you must grind flax

seed or else most will just pass through your body. Also you will be picking it

out of your teeth for days! Flax seed should be refrigerated as the omega acids

will deteriorate at room temperature. This is why flax seed oil needs to be

refrigerated and can never be used for cooking. However I have used ground flax

seed in baking and cooking and it still seems to have a positive effect. Flax

seed has a greater effect on your HDL, good cholesterol, as that is the nature

of omegas. That is not to say it will not help lower your bad cholesterol, LDL.

Ground flax seed is an excellent source of fiber and since most cholesterol is

formed by the liver, fiber helps remove bad cholesterol from the blood stream.

Flax seed has a long history of health benefits that goes back centuries to

Greek and Roman times.
