Guest guest
I know that most of the questions are for humans, but there are a lot of good answers here and I thought maybe you could help. My dog is a 65lb mutt-ridgeback, lab, pitt-? mix? He's always suffered from allergies, mostly skin, but he's 9 now and some regular sneezing and ear issues have taken hold of late. He gets benedryl (doctor prescribe dosage-1mg per pound per day) and this seems to help. About 2 weeks ago I changed his food. 4 days later, he was completely deaf. when I changed the food, the one dog refused it...but he ate willingly. this was advertised as " all natural, healthy " dog food-no cheap grocery store brand for my dogs. But it was being pushed by Petco, with a $5 coupon and stacked in the middle of the store...so was it the food that lead to his deafness? Sounds far fetched, but I can think of nothing else to cause it suddenly. The vet thinks it is age, but the fact that it came on so suddenly is my cause for skepticism...he runs and plays fairly regularly--and he's back on Wellness food. Any ideas? Guest guest
Call the dog food manufacturer. Have they look to see if he has an ear infection? You can also go on answers if you havent done it already. I posted a link, saying sometimes deafness is temporary http://www.deafdogs.org/faq/. Its good you asked on here. Dogs are so important. --- On Tue, 10/28/08, BB <bbes10 wrote: BB <bbes10 Dog suddenly deaf Tuesday, October 28, 2008, 6:18 PM I know that most of the questions are for humans, but there are a lot of good answers here and I thought maybe you could help. Guest guest
Hi, I would take him off commercial diet and start him on a RAW Food diet. Also try ear candling for his hearing. If he has an infection it will get rid of the infection as well. I would also recommend a Parasite /Detox program. For more info email me offline I will send you the programs. Take care! Guest guest
It could be many things but sometimes it will take us a while to notice a pet has become deaf. In older dogs nerve deafness is not that uncommon. The larger the dog then usually the younger in years they are when they get old. My second dog became blind due to a genetic condition of luxated lens in his eyes. Eventually I noticed he wasn't responding the same way to sound and I actually had to test him. The reason it took me a while to discover it was because he still responded to vibrations, smell, air movement and all those other senses that come into play when other senses are absent. Richard Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth. ---Pema Chödrön
Guest guest
Sai Ram. Pronounced as Saayee Raam, it is a greeting, a mantra and a blessing too for you and the dog. I hope the good suggestions already given are helping him, but if needed, would recommend the following: Pl. catch hold of Rescue Remedy Drops (Bach Flower Essences available from health food stores and or online). Give him in his water to drink and take him off from the new food and revert back to his earlier diet. I am also sending him REIKI (freely) to help him with the problem. Blessings to him. Swamy Holistic Healer Reiki Master P.S: I have nothing to sell.
