Guest guest
My 12 year old Dalmation dog is coughing. Sounds like a honking noise. He seems O.K. till he stands up and starts to walk. He has low thyroid and is on medication for this. The vet says his heart is strong, and his lungs are clear and suggested to give him cough syrup with DM. Tried that once and not much got into him but I got lots all over me. Any suggestions as to what is wrong with him and also what can I give him????? Thank you. Guest guest
If its not the heart, I know that it has something to do with the trachea or bronchial tubes. They collapse somewhat and thats what makes that noise. I had several dogs with that, including the one I have now. Rub the throat when they do it, it helps. It also could be hyperventilating when they get nervous or excited. You can go on answers, if you havent done so, and ask. Go under the pets section. --- On Sun, 12/21/08, marilynannlove <marilynlove wrote: marilynannlove <marilynlove DOG COUGHING Sunday, December 21, 2008, 1:38 PM My 12 year old Dalmation dog is coughing. Guest guest
The best is that you take your dog to a holistic vet, one trained in homeopathy, for instance. The more drugs that you give to your dog the worst his health will become. Rena - marilynannlove Sunday, December 21, 2008 1:38 PM DOG COUGHING My 12 year old Dalmation dog is coughing. Guest guest
Ask you Vet if there if a possiblity your dog has Kennel Cough; Kennel cough is acutally the equivalant of human Whooping Cough ! the only remedy for this is antibitoics and then natural treatments to keep the bug away once you erradiate the bug with the antibiotics Germs live in the intestines; so give the Dog Natural Dog feed to clear out the intestines; do not over excite the dog; let the dog drink water; and add Vitamin fortified feed w/Vit. C and B12; I would whip up some raw eggs with water for protein and Vit.B12 , " tiptoptraining " <susanmannrn wrote: > > , bk <doglover894@> wrote: > > > Cough in a large dog is more likely to be kennel cough than a > collapsing trachea (very common problem with small dogs).
