Guest guest Posted June 7, 2004 Report Share Posted June 7, 2004 Trader Joe's Statement on Lead in Gummi Vites® Released May 28, 2004: Trader Joe's voluntarily withdrew from sale all packages of Northwest Natural Products, Inc. Gummi Vites®, children's chewable vitamins, upon learning that there were allegations by ConsumerLab.com that the levels of lead in the vitamins exceeded FDA guidelines and California's Proposition 65 standards. The health and safety of our customers and the integrity of our products are of utmost concern to Trader Joe's. We immediately had samples from our shelves tested by an independent third-party laboratory. Results of the tests indicate that all samples fell well within both FDA guidelines and California’s Proposition 65 standards.Results of a battery of tests conducted by the manufacturer, Northwest Natural Products, Ltd., have also confirmed that the level of lead in Gummi Vites® falls well below the guidelines.
