Guest guest
Every time I drive down the driveway my pup Toby runs in the ditch alongside my car like he's racing me. Well a few minutes ago out of the blue he turned and ran right in front of my car. I wasn't going very fast but I heard a clonk like I clipped him and looked in my mirror and he was back running behind my car so I thought he was okay. But I kept watching him and he started running really funny and then ran into the field and fell over.I got out of my car and ran over to him and he was dead. Just like that. I feel so bad. Ever since he killed all my chickens I've hardly paid any attention to him. And then I go and hit him with my car. I feel so horrible I can't even put it into words. Guest guest
Candace, I'm really sorry, as we all know you have nothing but the very best intentions for your family and i know that included your pups or he would have been gone the day of the " chick incident " . Perhaps you were not supposed to leave the house today and he prevented that? Guest guest
Aw Candace...I'm so sorry...I know that it is hard to lose a pet...and feel terrible that it happened in such a way. Please know that he definitely felt loved...or why would he want to follow you that way...don't feel bad...obviously it is the way things were meant to happen...maybe in his own way he saved your life...maybe something horrible was going to happen to you and he prevented you from going there...something to think about...everything happens for a reason... Guest guest
I'm so sorry, perhaps a cup of iced lavender or chamomille tea will help to soothe you? any chance of grabbing a nap? Also later when your eyes get puffy from the crying, little compresses made from chilled Chamomille or eyebright tea on cotton balls will help the swelling and reduce the redness. Big hugs Candace. Guest guest
I don't think anything short of a tranquilizer dart will calm me down right now. I'll be alright, crying is good for you and I haven't done it in way too long. I've got a lot of other issues to get out, too. This helped in a way if I want to try and look at it positively; which is hard right now. Guest guest
Steep a strong cup of lavender tea (or chamomille). I like it plain, but you could add a tiny bit of honey, then add some ice and enjoy. Guest guest
Candace, In all my years around dogs this is one of the most common occurrences. It happens hon. I doubt your other dog blames you. I'd rather think that she is at a loss with her friend and companion. I think that would be more exact. Without the other companion dogs tend to have to reorient themselves. This could take a week or two. The best thing you can do is to give her lots of love and try and play with her as much as possible. If you could take her on long walks that will help a lot as well. Guest guest
That's probably what it is, she's so SAD. I got him first, so her entire life out here she's had him as her "big brother" and friend. She was only 6 weeks old when they met. Oh if you could have heard the cry she let out when she saw him dead. It made my heart drop into my stomach. I'm going to get her some doggy treats today and see if she'll let me play with her. Candace - zeb herbal remedies Tuesday, June 08, 2004 6:35 AM Re: Herbal Remedies - I feel so bad..... Guest guest
I agree. Give her some time. I don't know if this will help, but I had a very skittish kitty adopt me - started living in my garage! It was only a few months old, if that. Don't know how it got in my garage. It wouldn't let me near it. It had obviously been wild for the little part of it's life to that time. Each night I started spending time with it - just sitting somewhere it could see me, about 5 minutes each night. First time it was at the other end of the garage. Each night I slowly got closer and closer. She's now got a name - Misty - and is a wonderful, loving member of our family. Anyway, this doesn't sound similar, I know, but I thought of it only because maybe if you just sat somewhere Shania could see you. Just sit there. Maybe talk to her softly. It may help her get through this. Hugs to Candace and Shania, Kelli SpareRibOfAz [spareRibOfAz] Monday, June 07, 2004 8:29 PMherbal remedies Subject: Re: Herbal Remedies - I feel so bad.....
