Guest guest
Brock just came into my office and was butt naked AGAIN. Every time he pees he rips his diaper off and throws it on the floor. He was trying to get me to follow him. Well he's not allowed to have his diaper off so I went in the living room and put a new diaper on him and noticed he had a poop smudge on his butt. Great! Where's the poop!?! Checked the diaper he took off. Nope. As I was walking in the kitchen to throw his diaper away I noticed a spot he'd squat on the floor and pooped and peed. Anyone else have a kid that "hinted" he was ready for potty training in this way? Brock still takes the "toilet" part of his potty chair off and puts it on as a hat. He just doesn't get it. I don't think he's ready but what else could it mean? Candace Everything will turn out well in the end. If things are not well now, then it is not yet the end. Guest guest
Noah does the same thing with the potty chair; he puts it on as a hat. It is quite funny. It sounds like we are going through similar things. Guest guest
Candace, Potty Training...I could never forget those lovely moments when my daughter showed me that she was well ready. Maya had been giving me indications by doing different things and I listened to her. But this one time and I mean once. I had her in her room to take her nap. She was calling me and calling, then things got really quite for a while. I had a bad feeling about this from her silence. She was in her room, had taken off her diaper after she pooped in it, smeared her pooped on the wall, the door, door knob and the carpet. I almost had a heart attack. I stripped her naked and but her in the bath while I cleaned the mess. After this, she was potty trained in one week with/out diapers. Underwear only in or out of the house. But yes, this is a sign the he is ready for his own potty, after these accidents, it gets easier. Get ready for more supprises. Guest guest
Well, my opinion is that if the child is aware that/when they are going, then they are ready to start working on the potty training. It's not a quick cycle (don't expect him to be potty trained in a day or two) - you have to work on it for a while sometimes. I've also never met a parent who isn't above rewarding (ie, bribing) the child for their good behavior in regards to potty training. There are various books for toddlers that are appropriate for him to sit on his potty and read while he's getting the hang of it. Anyway, I have other thoughts or ideas, but not enough time to write them now. I'm sure others will chime in with their successful actions. Just wanted to say that I think now's as good a time as any to start! Guest guest
Play a game with him. Let him see you go and show him the potty chair is his to start. Then see how he does and go with the flow and listen to him and his body language. When I first started. I allowed her to be naked runing around the house. I gave her fluid all day long and everytime she felt the need to go, I asked her to tell me. And she did. That's kinda how it all started. I basically blocked out everything activity for one week and stayed home and potty trained her. It took me about a week. During this duration, I didn't allow her to wear diapers or training pants, even during her nap. I wanted her to feel the weatness if she had gone during her nap. She did and she didn't like the feeling so she decided to wake up when ever she felt the need to go. hope this helps. Good luck! Guest guest
Candace I have heard something about buying a doll that you can fill with water. You stay home all day and night and you fill the child with liquid; you fill the doll iwth liquid and you have your child teach the child to potty on the potty (it is a doll that sort of pees) then in turn your child who is full of liquid will want to go too. If done right, I think thye can be potty trained in a couple of days. we are going to try it next week when I have two day s in a r ow off again. I'll let you know. Guest guest
Candace, Potty training is different for every child. I've potty trained three so far and it's different every time. It sounds like he is ready to start noticing pottys. My daughter was super simple to train, but my second son was hard. It took six months, easy. We used sticker charts, books, having him watch daddy, talking about it CONSTANTLY. He didn't get it until he just happened to pee in the toilet (mostly) and I put a sticker on his chart. We made a BIG deal about it. Everyone came in and clapped and cheered for him. It was hilarious, but it drove the point home. We used stickers he picked out just for that chart. As it was, he didn't fully train until he was almost three. Good Luck. The other important thing is to ignore or don't make an issue of accidents, but praise heavily when he gets it right or nearly right. I did this with all my kids and my daughter was fully trained within a couple weeks and my younger son took a lot longer:) Just go with the flow. Let Brock set the pace. If you get too anxious about it, it will set him back. Your doing great. Potty training is always an interesting experiance. She did and she didn't like the feeling so she decided to wake up when ever she felt the need to go. > > hope this helps. > Good luck! > An-Marie > > > > Candace Podratz <CandaceAndBrock@w...> wrote: > He thinks his potty chair is a toy, I don't even know where to START! > > - > An-Marie Gameiro > herbal remedies > Tuesday, June 22, 2004 9:53 AM > Re: Herbal Remedies - OT Potty Training > > > Candace, > > Potty Training...I could never forget those lovely moments when my daughter showed me that she was well ready. Guest guest
I potty trained my three children when they were 2-1/2 yrs old. With my first, I read the book "How to Potty Train in One Day", and it worked like a charm. The secret was to have a doll that wets its pants and the child puts the doll on the potty, so he can see. But to keep the charm going, I would have my son sit on the big toilet backwards so he could see himself "making bubbles in the water" while he peed. And it progresses from there. . . With my two girls, we did the doll baby thing; and they were PT in one week. Of course, the backwards deal on the toilet doesn't work for girls. :-) Janet
Guest guest
My mom said she had every one of us (4) kids potty trained in 3 days. She made us sit on the potty until we went (she said my older brother took 6 HOURS the first time) and wouldn't let us off. Eventually we'd go and then she'd come get us every 1/2 hour and put us on again and make us sit until we went. Kind of cruel but effective, I guess. Guest guest
Sounds like she is relating the pull up to having the diaper and that eventually someone will change it. Perhaps the " do by example " deal will work for her? Everytime you need to go, perhaps you can announce it (or whisper) to her and bring her along to see you drop your panties? Hopefully she'll see that big-girls dont do it in their panties? Just an idea? Sylvia herbal remedies , " Shelby Blakely " <s.blakely@v...> wrote: > Here is my problem. Guest guest
unless he's got hirschsprungs he will eventually go. If he can go in his diaper without fanfare then he doesn't have it. Leave the diaper off all day if necessary. You might catch a mess or two, but I think that once he actually goes out of his diaper the mystery will be gone. Be sure to give him lots of love when he actually does it! -Shelby isabel flores [kitty_cat486]Wednesday, June 23, 2004 11:51 AMherbal remedies Subject: Re: Herbal Remedies - OT Potty Training my sister has bee potty training my nephew for a very long time. he will go pee in the toilet but absolutely refuses to go poo in one. he will only go poo in his diaper and he'll hold in until he gets his diaper. help please!! Guest guest
Cool, I just bought a boy potty doll off Ebay. Can't wait til it gets here. Let me know how it goes for you! Candace - Elizabeth Elliott herbal remedies Wednesday, June 23, 2004 8:48 AM Re: Herbal Remedies - OT Potty Training Candace I have heard something about buying a doll that you can fill with water. Guest guest
Have you ever shown him the "product" he can get when going on the toilet? Doesn't work so good with pee, but if you show him your poo in the toilet and make a game of him putting his poo in the toilet too. Another thought - I've heard that some kids don't equate the standalone kid potty to the toilet. It's something different and a toy, because that's not what mommy and daddy use. I used some sort of contraption on top of our regular toilet for my daughter, along with a step stool. Worked great. (Less clean up too! LOL!) :)Kelli Candace Podratz [CandaceAndBrock] Wednesday, June 23, 2004 6:50 AMherbal remedies Subject: Re: Herbal Remedies - OT Potty Training Just doesn't get that there's an alternative OTHER than going on the floor. Guest guest
My mom let her older sister potty train me and my 3 brothers. Apparently the bribe was Oreo cookies and the family joke for a while was - what was our "price"! My youngest brother needed 6 cookies, where my other brother and I only needed 2-3. Guest guest
Hi Shelby, I like the suggestion of showing her how "big girls" do it, but another suggestion is to get some of the plastic pants that go over cloth diapers and just put those on her whenever she's got her panties on. Then if she goes in her panties, the mess will be contained and she may be more aware of what she's done since she'll be sitting in it. Just an idea... :)Kelli Shelby Blakely [s.blakely] Wednesday, June 23, 2004 11:28 AMherbal remedies Subject: RE: Herbal Remedies - OT Potty Training Here is my problem. Guest guest
I truly introduced my daughter to the potty when she was 13 months. During this time, we were playing only and not potty training. She did sat on her little potty, playing with my make-up and we read. She did pooped and peed several time. It was every morning when she woke up, that I put her on it and she always did her business. I didn't make a big deal. I did this for 4 months, then I stopped completely, because she started showing signs of disinterested. So I stopped and waited until she started showing signs. I was very patient with my daughter and I didn't push her when I felt she wasn't ready. I let her lead and read her signs and her body languange and I used alot of communication with her. I allowed her to be in charge of it and I sat back and helped with the process, which made her more interested in doing it herself. When I trained my daughter at 2.5, I asked her if she wanted to be a big girl. She said, "yes", so I asked her if she wanted big girl underpants, and she said, "yes. So, we went shopping and she got to pick the underwear she wanted. I waited another week before I introduced her to underwear. Fortunately she found her underpants and wanted to wear them, so she did, but I asked her to tell me everytime she needed to go potty. During this time, I was home and filling her with liquids and constantly asking her if she need to go every 15 minutes. Plus, I allowed her to run around with out clothes, to make it easy for her to go. When she said, "no" I would take her to the potty. After doing this several times, she got the concept and was trained in a week. She's was fully potty trained at 2.5 and going on the adult potty by herself, wipping and flushing the toilet herself and standing on her stool washing her hands with soap and drying them with/out my help. Now that she is almost 3, she does this process alone. My son, 13 months, have been noticing his sister doing this and originated wanting to sit on the adult potty. I'm not training him now, but I let him explore what he wants. I sat him on the adult several times and he is enjoying it. So we'll see. It is different for every child, you should do what you feel would be best for your child. Most of all, be patient, don't worry. Kids are very smart and when they feel the right time has come, it will happen. An-MarieShelby Blakely <s.blakely wrote: Here is my problem. Guest guest
Okay, I had this in with my saved emails for the longest time. Now that Brock is almost 2 1/2 I'm getting *serious* about training him. I bought him big boy undies and he threw them on the floor and ran out of the room. I've put him on the toilet and he sits and complains and complains and WILL NOT go. Finally I give up. I've put in his "it's potty time" video and he gets upset. Anyone ever have their kids seem to be ANTI-POTTY TRAINING? Candace - Janet herbal remedies Wednesday, June 23, 2004 9:52 AM Re: Herbal Remedies - OT Potty Training I potty trained my three children when they were 2-1/2 yrs old. :-) JanetFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. Guest guest
My ds is 2.75 and some days he insists on wearing "train pants" which are thomas the train underwear- but he goes in them too and some days he will go potty on his own and tell me that he wants to go, but other days he will have a fit if I even mention the word potty. His barely 12 mo old sister goes in the potty 2-5 times a day. He praises her and then goes off to play. I can't make him go in the potty- he knows how to hold it and wait until I am not paying attention. I gave up. I am not willing to make it a power struggle because he will win!
