Guest guest
Hi everyone, My name is Mandy, and I'm the babywearing, homebirthing, non- vaxxing, ECing, cloth diapering, mama to 5.5month old, exclusively breastfed Katja. My question is in regards to the total body cleanse. It's my understanding that doing a cleanse while breastfeeding is not good because the toxins end up in the breastmilk. Is this true? I plan on bfing Katja for as long as she wants to, and likely will have another baby while still nursing, so I'm looking for something I can do that would still be safe for her. Thoughts? Thanks, Mandy
Guest guest
Well for starters...WELCOME! First thing you need to do is get the free lecture. Then i know everyone is going to agree on this, but diet is going to be the biggest priority, so organic on everything if possible, then fresh fruits & veggies, reduce or eliminate dairy & refined foods especially those with sugar and white flour. Read the files on sprouting. Add Total Nutrition to your diet. and i'm sure others will chime in with more. Happy reading! Guest guest
Hi Mandy, Welcome! There was a discussion a few months back regarding breast feeding and cleansing. There were arguments on both sides as to whether or not this was OK. I would recommend getting Doc's tape and when you've listened to it, call him for a free consult and you can ask him this directly for your specific situation. :)Kelli katz_mama [katz_mama] Wednesday, June 23, 2004 3:50 PMherbal remedies Subject: Herbal Remedies - Intro and Total body cleanse qIt's my understanding that doing a cleanse while breastfeeding is not good because the toxins end up in the breastmilk. Guest guest
Hi Mandy~ I was the one that started the whole " cleansing while breastfeeding " discussion that Sylvia mentioned. ;-) I'm still nursing my youngest (she just turned 2) and I'd Love to do major cleansings, but I wasn't sure how to proceed (or when). At the time, I was specifically asking about the 3 day juice cleanse, and the discussion sort of polarized into 2 camps~ 1) waiting until after weaning (but eating better and drinking more organic juices, etc. while nursing), and 2) going ahead and doing the cleanses anyway because it might be better than the toxins Already being given to the baby through the mother's milk. Doc suggested that it would be a personal thing, depending on how " toxic " the mom's body was to begin with~ so basically an individual decision, based on the baby's age, mom's health, etc. I thought that was the smartest way to handle it all the way around. I, personally, finally decided to wait. I have added organic juices to my diet, and cut way back on sugars and processed foods. I also felt " led " to take a probiotic. We've gone to grass-fed beef and poultry only, and I'm looking into the sprouted flours Sylvia and others have mentioned. It's an interesting journey! :-) Jan G. Guest guest
Thanks for your responses. I'll think about it some more - and I'll put it off at least until Katja is eating a lot of solids (unless I'm pregnant by then LOL). I just ordered the cassette lecture, but I'm in Canada - hope that's okay. I'll have to track down a tape player - pretty sure I still have my walkman. We started eating organic beef and chicken a couple years ago (not certified, but we know the farmers personally), however we still get some at the grocery store - one of my goals in the near future is to switch over to only organic meat. Also, I've never been a juice drinker, so I still don't understand that - I'm a water drinker, and have always looked at juice as mostly empty calories (except in the case of a juice cleanse). I like my fruits & veggies whole. But maybe the tapes have something about that. Anyway, I'm rambling now :-) Just wanted to say thanks and I'm glad to be here! Guest guest
Dear Mandy, I just wanted to throw some data your way. 1st your gonna get the tape no matter where on the planet you are. Second well done for getting the changes done that you have done. Regards juicing... juicing lets your body concentrate on healing rather than digesting. Whole uncooked vegetables are best, juice is second best and so on. But if your trying to really heal something fast juices are best. There are two different types of "juices". One is fresh from the juicer/food processor and the other is out of some form of storage be it grocery store, refrigerator and so on. The latter one will be more close to empty than not. You were right to mention that it feels like empty calories. It almost is. But the fresh juice is an entirely different story. Fresh juices are absolutely second only to fresh produce. Use organic of course. thought I'd throw that 2 cents worth in there. Zeb Thanks for your responses.
