Guest guest
Candace how is your little girl doing? You havent said much about her lately since you have been busy with the cleanse and then last week with Brock. Is she acting a bit more normal lately? Guest guest
She's turning out to be Miss Perfect Pup! Never in her life did she ever flip on her back for anyone and now she begs for belly rubs and follows us everywhere. Her and Brock are good pals. In the morning when I jog she runs halfways down our long driveway with us and then sits and waits for us to come back. She hasn't been barking nearly as much, she's much better! Yay! Brock on the other hand; I can't figure out why he's been waking up in the middle of the night a LOT lately. Last night he went to bed late and was up at 4:30 screaming bloody murder. He wouldn't go back to sleep after that so I've been up since then. I haven't been getting enough sleep and feel sick all the time. If it's not one thing...... Guest guest
Hi Candace, Is he having nightmares? Whenever my daughter has trouble sleeping - or when I do for that matter! - there are 3 different things I try: CalMag drink (calcium and magnesium). This is great when you're having trouble relaxing, especially if you've been exercising lately. If I start getting muscle cramps or just tight muscles, I know my "CalMag level" is low! LOL! Anyway, calcium and magnesium are critical for the proper flexing and relaxing of muscles. Vitamin B1, also known as the Dream Vitamin. If you've got dreams coming in on you all the time at night, then take some B1. It usually comes in 100mg capsules, but I've taken up to 1,000mg in a day when necessary. On a regular basis I take 500mg in addition to my Total Nutrition drink. Lobelia. This is good for just general relaxing. I hope one or more of these suggestions can help you and poor Brock out. Seems you're destined to not sleep these days, huh! LOL! :)Kelli Candace Podratz [CandaceAndBrock] Tuesday, July 13, 2004 12:19 PMherbal remedies Subject: Re: Herbal Remedies - Speaking of Dogs...CandaceBrock on the other hand; I can't figure out why he's been waking up in themiddle of the night a LOT lately. Guest guest
Glad to hear she is doing better! Not so glad to hear Brock is not good againa nd that you are not getting enough sleep! I know i have a huge sleep deficet from the last couple of days and it is rough, but you are cleansing and so sleep is really important at a time like this. Does Brock take naps during the day? if so, even though this is usually the only time you get to yourself... i would suggest napping! Even a nap of half an hour can do wonders to rejuvinate! Guest guest
Nightmares is the only thing I can think of. DH said maybe he's hot so I got him a little bitty fan for his room and he still wakes up screaming and comes to bed with us (believe me it's MUCH hotter in our room) and sometimes he sleeps and sometimes he won't. Maybe I can sneak a little lobelia in his sippy before bedtime..... maybe a little vodka for me. Guest guest
I have such a hard time sleeping during the day by the time I fall asleep Brock is waking up and I feel much worse than before I lay down! Today he went down for a nap at 8:30am and didn't wake up til after NOON! If I would have known he was going to sleep that long....... Yesterday I managed to sleep during his nap but I was downright sick yesterday if I didn't lay down I think I would have puked. If I don't sleep enough for a few days at a time I get horrible headaches and upset stomachs. Brock had diarhea today, apparently not sleeping is affecting him, too. Guest guest
I highly recommend the CalMag and Vit B1, too, Candace. They really help a LOT. My daughter even asks for it now when she can't sleep. You can mix the CalMag with Brock's favorite juice. Mix the B1 in some apple sauce. I use both of these before I use the Lobelia as it handles the vitamin/mineral deficiency that seems to be occuring. Also, I don't think vodka is on your cleanse! LOL!!! Guest guest
If I throw some herbs in it, then would the vodka be okay? ; ) You have CalMag powder? and B1 powder? I don't have either, but I think I've seen them in pill form before. Guest guest
Actually, a little chamomille in his sippy would be ok, and if you set a little sachet of Lavender near his bed, or maybe a dab of Lavender EO under his pillow, they will do wonders to help calm and relax him (GENTLY!) Guest guest
Yes, I get CalMag in powder form. Adding some Vit C to it makes it even more absorbable by the body. Oh, by the way, be careful about doseage with Brock. I've given Megan too much once or twice - leads to diarrhea! It takes a lot to do that, though. (See the 150 rule in the files, if you're not familiar with it.) I get 100mg B1 capsules, so you can just open one up. I actually taught Megan to swallow pills with the tiny B1 caps - just stick it in a spoonful of applesauce (with her watching) and then have her swallow the whole thing. I found that learning to swallow with water or juice doesn't give enough substance to swallow. The applesauce, though, is enough substance that she actually swallowed it. And since it was something she was familiar with, and knew she didn't have to chew it, she was OK. Now she can take any supplement in capsule or tablet form quite easily.
