Guest guest
gang, I wanted to give thanks again to all those who gave love prayers and suggestions, both on list and off regarding the puppies We went for a followup visit to the vet this morning for both pups and the visit went VERY well. Friday i was in a panic because the older male pup (Matoh) seemd to be getting much worse (healing crisis!) where the younger female (kuma)seemed to be improving and made an appt for them both to be seen. Anyway, Saturay morning, i woke up at 4am because the male was hacking so bad, and got up to let them out. When i called them back in, the male would not get up, so i let him be. A couple of hours later and i had to go find him (in the yard) and had to help him up and walk with him into the house. He was so weak and clearly lost about 3 to 5 pounds during the previous week. So i decide more drastic measure might be in order and got a bit more aggressive in dosing them. First, earlier in the week i had already switched both puppies to a half raw supplement to the existing diet. I mixed raw ground chuck into their puppy food along with shredded carrot, ground orange peels and either some egg or powdered egg shell. Then i made a blend of 2 tsp of raw medicinal honey with 1/2 cap of astragulus/reishi/miatake, 10 drops of echinacea tincture, 10 drops of GF Seed ext and 5 drops of lobelia, and 1 tblsp of powdered orange peels and hand fed this to them (they loved it by the way!) before breakfast and then mid day and then at night. Also, we added a little broth to their kibble in order to make it " salty " in hopes of encouraging additonal water intake (to which we added Willard Water) and that worked too. Let me just say, that the imporvement i had from Friday morning until today is miraculous! The vet took both temperatures and didnt even treat the male saying it looked like he was recovering just fine and there was no need to put him on anything what we were doing was working great! Most of the info i got was from my natural pet remedies book (who actually even quote Dr Christopher!) and also getting feedback from those of you experienced with animals... Anyway, i just had to say thanks again. Sylvia
