Hi Katja,

I dont nurse him and he has ate the baby rice sience he was like almost a month old i mix it up in his formula I started so early because he had reflux so bad thats what I was told to do to thickin it up. No I dont give him any teething biscuits yet or cherrios because he only has 2 little bitty teeth he has some more coming in on top but not enough for me to worry about him choking. I looked on the rice box and I dont see gluten on it cold it be called something else? He dosnt eat soy as he could not tolerate it or lactose, he drinks a lactose and soy free formula I was just reading on the can and its base is coconut oil. I have 2 other children a 7 year old and a 3 year old. My three year old also had eczma just not very bad at all and it went away but this poor child has had it almost sience birth. Oh the mitten thing it works during the day like you said I just keep putting them back on but night time is when he scratches it up. I would like to have that recipie you

have maybe that would help.

Thank you much

it. why are you feeding him baby rice? he really doesn't need it - it's just empty calories. is he still nursing? are you eating wheat/barley/rye? do you give him teething biscuits? cheerios? does he have siblings? does he eat soy (or if you're nursing, do you?)if you're nursing, cut back to just meat, vegetables, and fruit for a while. if you're not nursing, and he gets formula, let me know and i can give you a recipe for a natural home made baby formula.the coconut oil you can get from www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com you can also feed it to him - especially if you're not nursing, this is a great source of lauric acid, which is the component in breast milk that boosts immunity.since it itches him, put socks on his hands to keep him from itching. you'll have to keep putting them on over and over again, but it will help nonetheless. you can use a poultice of plantain to try to stop the itching, or, if it's not

too near his eyes, just plain old baking soda paste made with water. if he's agitated, remember chamomile tea - it's a sanity saver!-katjaFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. which brand rice? the gerber site doesn't list ingredients, but i see they

make rice, oatmeal, and barley cereals. even if they make their rice cereal

out of only rice, if they make it in the same factory with the barley

cereal, it's contaminated.

also, almost all baby foods (the kind you get in jars) contain wheat as a

thickening agent. try making all the baby food instead.

for your own house, keep in mind that contamination is an issue. since it's

obvious that your family has wheat issues, it would be best if your whole

family just gave up gluten together. if you can't do that, you'll have to

make the baby's food in a way that won't get contaminated: a separate

cutting board, separate utensils, storage stuff, etc...

for formula, if you can get raw goat's milk, i'd use that - mix about a cup

of that, a raw egg yolk, some coconut oil, and some grassfed ghee (this is

a good one: http://www.purityfarms.com/ ), and some grated raw liver if you

can get it from grassfed animals, if not, a serving of high quality cod

liver oil such as www.greenpasture.org

if you can't get raw goat's milk but you can get raw cow's milk, you can

get kefir grains at www.gemcultures.com and make kefir from the milk, which

will remove the lactose. (in my opinion, this is the superior option anyway).

whichever milk you use, mix all ingredients in the blender until happy.

if you are hesitant to use milk at all, then just leave it out, and blend

the coconut oil, raw egg yolk, ghee, cod liver oil, and liver into a puree

- you can spoon feed it, or thin it down with water for bottle feeding. if

you must sweeten it (try without first) then use a nice ripe banana.

most importantly, don't get discouraged! you can heal this - and being

gluten free isn't as hard as you'd think, once you get used to it. for more

info, try www.celiac.com

i also have a big reference list i'll send to you offline (if someone else

wants it, holler)

I'd like the list as well-- we're pretty much gluten free & the resources would be a great help...

thanx for the info on the water situation. It's the well-- drilling is not a financial option right now. We're trying to make use of a seasonal spring- just haven't hit the right idea yet...

:) you're welcome! hope something in that list helps :)

turns out the celiac references aren't really that long, so here they are

for everyone!

i have a lot more information when you run out of stuff to do on this list

- celiac, in case you hadn't noticed, is somewhat of a passion of mine.

mainstream doctors are saying the numbers are between one in 10 and one in

3 - personally i believe it's more like 99% of americans. (in fact, i

believe that it's about 98% of all humans, humans just aren't supposed to

eat wheat! if you want to talk more about my reasoning for that, holler. if

you agree go ahead and holler too, it's fun :) )

[why so many different related disorders? because the body breaks down in a

finite number of ways. when you ingest poison every day, eventually some

part is going to break down, and what breaks down is largely dependent on

the rest of your genes and your environmental situation. certainly celiac

disease isn't the only cause of these things, but the body can only handle

so many toxins, and it can only break down in so many ways. best to limit

your toxin exposure wherever possible, and gluten is certainly avoidable!]
