Guest guest
Good morning all, My BIL, whom I have met all of three times before this weekend, in all of the nearly 18 years I have had my dh, came and spent the weekend with us. He wants to hunt here this year. This is what I wonder..what causes shaky hands? I don't mean a slight tremble either. I mean full blown shaking of the hands. This is only the second person I ever met who does this. His hands shake so badly that he can't pick up cards off the table when playing cards, and he couldn't sight in his gun..dh had to do it. His hands don't always shake, sometimes it is a slight tremble. Personally it scares me and I want to know what to watch for in my husband and my son. What do you think? Guest guest
Hi Flo, it can be " essential tremor " (which means your hands shake and they really don't know why), Parkinson's, too much caffeine, alcohol or other drug withdrawal. Mine shake sometimes from Multiple Sclerosis, especially what is called " intention tremor " when you are needing your hand to not shake. I've had shaking hands now and then all my life, as did my father, as does my daughter. It's annoying and quite uncomfortable. I have no clue what causes it or if something can be done. But the calmer and more serene and positive I am. the less I shake. Guest guest
Thanks Janelle, ahh, see the man smokes and he drank about five cups of coffee with his meds (High bp, and cholesterol) and he also takes pepcid and aspirin. I really gave him what for about the chemical meds, shamefully, and my kid ragged him hard about the smoking. I explained about the "treating symptoms" with chemicals, and he said an "old Indian barmaid lady" told him the same thing about three years ago. Anyway, I am going to see what I can do to convince him to try something else. I just wanted to cry about the hand shaking. My best friend has MS and I never noticed her really shake. Her most aggravating problem is loss of bowel control. That really hurts her. Then she gets angry and can't do anything. I suspected it was meds causing so much trouble for him. Do you think bp and cholesterol meds would cause that (among the million other deadly side effects)? Flo
Guest guest
He is 60 and he had a heart attack about six years ago, he takes meds for that and he also takes pepcid and aspirin and cholesterol meds. I was going to try to remember what he took but will do an internet search and see if something rings a bell. It was a weird name (aren't they all?) ever notice the names of flowers are very uncomplicated. I am going to have to work on this man. I will also check out Parkinson's. Isn't that what Michael J Fox has? Flo - Kimberly M How old is he? Could it be Parkinsons? kim
