Photobiology uses light to activate enzymes in the body that stimulate healing. " This is literally treating a sight of pain or an injured part of the body using high-intensity light, and that light has a therapeutic effect, " said Kelvyn Cullimore, President and CEO of Dynatronics. Researchers say this type of light therapy can help relieve chronic pain associated with inflammatory conditions like arthritis, carpel tunnel syndrome and TMJ. To treat the conditions, physicians use a device to shine specific wavelengths of near infrared light over the area for about one minute. " We're using 680 nanometers to 880 nanometers, which penetrates into the tissue approximately three inches. It's able to activate the components within cells called mitochondria. These are the energy producing parts of cells, " said Dr. David Zeiger. And when mitochondria run more efficiently, the healing process accelerates. " The cell is able to get rid of inflammation, the sore feeling you have in muscles, " according to Zeiger. Depending on how old and how severe the injuries are, patients might need treatments a couple of times a week for several weeks, but Zeiger says it doesnít take long for patients to feel results. " Generally within about 3 or 4 treatments, you begin noticing some improvement, " said Zeiger. And once the pain is gone, it should be gone for good. ^. .^ ~ " Enjoy the edge you're on . . . don't think about the one to come!
