treatment for healing peridontal disease of the gums?

I was wondering if anyone knew of an effective treatment for healing periodontal

disease of the gums? I have been diagnosed with it and the treatment with the

dentist is " scaling " which I have had done, however the condition remains.. I do

practice good dental hygene but am told that it is a genetic condition. I do not

want to lose my teeth or the supporting bone, as can happen with this particular

form of gum disease. Anyway if anyone knows of a treatment or remedy for this or

point me in a good direction I would be most grateful!
