Michael:

The book lists for about 130 Ren Min Bi, and shipping

from China would cost another 150%, figure 8.26 RMB=1

US dollar.

Cantonese is spoken in Guangzhou by most people, and

the locals resist Mandarin. That is changing as

Guangdong modernizes, but the locals have resisted

outside influence for at least 1000 years.

Cantonese is regarded as closest to ancient Chinese

because the language has resisted outside influence.

Many do speak Putonghua (Mandarin) and the people from

outside of Guangdong speak Putonghua.

My teacher is from Sichuan, his wife from Guangdong,

so he speaks both Mandarin and Cantonese.

Let me know as November gets closer.

Regards, Jack
