Guest guest
To the western patient, the description of Qi can be foreign to them. In real life practice, the eastern description of Qi can actually hinder rather than help the patient understand it. On the other hand, in western thought, everyone seem to know what energy is and knows that everything has energy (E-Mc2?) I personally like to explain Qi and its role in acupuncture like this: " There is a nervous energy in our bodies that travel in certain pathways. In these pathways there are specific points that you can manipulate to influence the disease process or an organ systems via nerves or hormonal pathways. By doing so, you can produce a healing. " My above description, though simple, tends to use western terminology to clarify their understanding of Qi. Hope this helps.
