Salt and apple cidar vinegar packs

I should have pointed out that this is not TCM but an Edgar Cayce

remedy.

I pour some salt into a wash cloth or small hand towel, fold it so

the salt doesn't pour out, pour some apple cidar vinegar on it,

place it over the spot that's been hurt, secure it with an ace

bandage if I'm going to be moving around, and leave it on several

hours. It will dry out, so you'll need to use more apple cidar

vinegar. My husband and I usually change the whole pack prior to

bed, and leave it on overnight. (Using towels to protect the bed.)

It's important that it be apple cidar vinegar and not white vinegar

or some other vinegar.

From a TCM standpoint, salt softens hardness. From a TCM standpoint,

what the combination of salt and apple cidar vinegar applied

externally does is it relieves and prevents Blood Stasis from

trauma. It's one of those formulas (like some herbs) that not only

stops excessive or inappropriate bleeding but also works on Blood

Stasis caused by trauma.

Here's some additional info on the packs. They're also used in

cases of sprains and breaks that aren't healing properly:

sprains.asp

Some other basic info on Cayce remedies: Over and over Cayce

emphasized the need for proper spinal alignment (chiropractic and DO

adjustments) and massage. There are a number of Cayce

recommendations for massage formulas for various conditions. BTW, he

recommended massage of the joints with peanut oil for people with

arthritis.

There are MDs and DOs in the US (and other countries) who study and

use the Cayce recommendations. The headquarters of the A.R.E. is in

Virginia Beach, VA. There's also a center in New York City, and

there used to be one in Phoenix, AZ. (I believe the one in Phoenix

moved to another city in Arizona.)

there one particular title of his that you might recommend for such

healing remedies, please? I was just watching a NGC program about him

two nights ago. Fascinating. I know the ARE Institute is still there

in Virginia but don't know much about them. Guess I'll google...thx, TH

The work of Edgar Cayce is being preserved and promoted in a very

professional and scientific manner by his son - they have done

wonderful work in cataloging and referencing the readings (a huge job)-

they also run a commercial business that sells many of the Cayce

formulas in packaged form.

In my opinion the most wonderful and useful technique revealed by

Cayce is the castor oil packs - they are extremely helpful -

especially when used with an external heating source like a heating

pad. These can be used for many abdominal problems - I often reccomend

them for liver stagnation problems (one of the reccomendations

revealed through the readings) and have seen very good effects. Please

read the Cayce readings on these packs - they are very helpful -

especially for those with circulation and stagnation problems.

All my books on Cayce are years and even decades old, so some of

these might be out-of-print.

A very basic book is The Edgar Cayce Remedies by William A. McGarey,

MD. Anything by him or his physician wife is good. (I can't locate

my copy of a book she wrote. The ARE website should have a complete

listing of books and authors.)

Another good intro is Edgar Cayce: Encyclopedia of Healing by Reba

Ann Karp.

If they haven't moved, the ARE complex is still next to the beach.

It includes the original hospital building as well as newer

buildings. My husband and I toured it one time. (They have tours, or

at least they did back then.) The guide was relating to the group

how she wound up working for the ARE. She had been a teacher who had

some concerns about her career. She prayed for guidance. She got a

very confusing dream. She prayed again, this time asking for

something more simple that she could understand. She said that she

got another dream. She was in a field, and a voice boomed

out, " You're in the wrong field! " . That has to be one of the most

succinct dreams anybody has ever had.
